In Dating, there initial motive mostly is not that you are looking for someone mutually compatible with you for marriage. Usually it seems people get stuck precommitting themselves for 3,5,6,10 years as boyfriends & girlfriends and end up heartbroken when they find the person is not interested in marriage or leaves them for someone else.

In Courtship the point from the beginning is that each individual is prepared to find a mate for marriage and begins the friendship with that purpose in mind. They dont touch the other individual sexually or try to claim them (like boyfriends and girlfriends) until they get to the serious stage where engagement comes in. And the men usually courted the women.

Now it seems everyone is into microwave relationships. They want intimacy and precommitment now without permanent commitment. (for the option to leave whenever they want).

Is this outdated? But marriages were strong when people did it in the past!!! I prefer courtship. Do you?

This guy I have had a crush on for a while was recently informed that I like him. Before he knew, we would talk in class, and online and laugh and stuff, but now that he knows, he is completely avoiding me.(Except for one day where he randomly talked to me) but basically avoiding me, to the extent of blocking me on msn. Why? Can't he just be flattered and move on. It wasnt like I was expecting anything from this just cuz he knows i like him. I was simply informing him, and now hes gone all weird.

I am madly head over heals in love with my soon to be ex-husband and I don't know how to get over him. He is on my mind constantly. From my first waking moment to my last thought before I go to bed. He seems to believe that I only think that I am in love with him but I truly am and I fell lost and incomplete without him. There is a huge black void in my life with him not there.

Here I go. Getting it out. I am pissed off at boyfriend. I want to break up. Why?
- He has conversations with my sister but doesn’t seem to want to talk to me. My sister is way out of his league though.
- I am loosing time with my friends because I hang out with him.
- I want to concentrate more on my school-work and that would mean I would have almost no time to spend with him
- He makes me mad for no reason.
- He tells stuff he shouldn’t to my sister when he talks to her

I don’t want to lead him on. I know I should break up with him. We are on Christmas Vacation at the moment. So the only way I talk to him is through MSN chat. Anyway, we go back to school in 2 weeks. *When should I break up with him – during the break or the first day we get back?

I am seeing someone who is very emotionally distant. He said however when we started seeing each other that "as long as he was doing this with me, he wouldn't be doing it with anyone else". I'm feeling very trapped by this because I want more out of a relationship than occasional sex. If I only see him once a week, and get maybe 1 or 2 emails from him a week should I leave myself open to meeting other people or stick to his original request???

Well, it's more complicated than the title says.
I use to go out with the girl's cousin, and thats how I met her.
Now I am deeply in love with this girl - and I think she already suspects it - but she likes another guy who I dont know, yet I think I have a chance with her. Now I will only stay for about 3 months in the city where we both live and there is no way I can stay.

Should I pursue her? I really, really like her... but still I must move in 3 months. Or should I leave her alone so she can find a more promising relationship?

she is from brazil and doesnt completely understand english, she lives with me but in another room, and she speaks portuguese with her brazilian friends in front of me and it annoyed me that she wouldnt just speak english, so one time me and my friend (american) started calling her an "erfkel"(which i hope is a made up word) and laughing at her, we told her it was just a made up word but she didnt believe us, she asked one of her friends what it meant and and they looked it up in the dictionary, now she thinks i called her an impatient person with no control over anything and no will power, she is a very sensitive sweet person and she was crying last night because of it, i just feel terrible because she has always been so sweet and helpful, she has been upset lately cause she is away from home durring christmas for the first time, and i feel like such a jerk

The court appointed psychologist as well as the kid's court appointed attorney are supporting my decision.I am filing for sold custody because my attorney said we start from there and then see what happens I have joint custody now with primary residence at their mom's. This girl told me she had to be on her own. I resigned myself to her request only to have her text me about 100 times the following weekend. She has been delivering mixed signals since then, really hot then really cold. She still contends she isn't ready for any relationship w/ anyone but I swear she is just not ready to be happy with herself and she gets upset b/c I am happy b/c she is who she is and she doesn't want to accept that it's possible. Moreover, there is definitely at least a part of her (who I think she is trying to spite) that wants me to keep after her. Regardless, why do people fight with themselves refusing to let themselves be happy? Is there anything more ridiculous?

So I have been In a long distance realtionship with this girl for about 5 months. I came home one time and noticed a little tiny red mark/patch on the back of her neck.....ignored it....same home the next time and it was gone....came home again. and she had one on the front of her neck....i asked her what it was and she didn't know what i was talking about until she looked in the mirror and she said she didn't know what it was....she said she thinks it is a birthmark....so i come back again...and it is gone..I ask her what happend to it and she said she didn't know. I kindly asked her if she was cheating on me and she said "ya right'..."why would i do that?"....I just left it at that...and wrote her a letter about being honest with me. She really doesn't seem like she would cheat on me, she hasn't acted any different;y towards me and still always wants to see me.
