Avoiding them will not stop them, it will only make them think you are afraid of them and they will be meaner to you. However, avoid making comments about them and talking about them because sometimes the people that you are talking to, the people who you think are your friends will be the first ones to instigate a fight. Try your best not to meet them - act like you're "not avoiding" them.
Ignore what they say about you. People like them are dying of attention, so let them.

Well it is hard to avoid somebody, so just kill them with kindness, be so sweet and kind to them that they will get a cavity from your sweetness.

You can't. You have to comfront them or they'll never leave you alone. Or do something nice to them and make them feel like crap.
