If it became super successful.

I want to start an eco-friendly club at my school, the only problem is, I won't have any adults help, but the school lets kids run their own clubs at school, and we have many empty classrooms (my middle school used to be a highschool, so we have tons of space). I want to do things to help the enviroment, but I need some advice on what to do because I don't want to act all leader-like saying what we have to do and when, and all I can think of doing is cleaning up trash around the perimeter of the school and the woods across the street (if I can get an adults help), and picking up the recycling from the bins in classrooms, anything else? By the way, I'm only in 7th grade.

The good news is that the majority of Americans accept the scientific reality of man-made global warming. The bad news is that it's a significantly smaller majority than in most other developed countries, and we're the largest contributor to the problem.

Those who are skeptical or deny the AGW theory are usually incapable of presenting a scientific argument as to why they doubt it. A good example is the disparity in quality of answers to this question asking for proof by either side, in which the supposed "top answerer" denier responded.

The problem is if you don't understand the science and reject the conclusions of the experts, you're almost guaranteed to be wrong.

Does the fault like with American schools? American media? Why is the USA lagging in scientific understanding?

If you asked the question "How much snow will there be this year?" just a couple of months ago, there is little doubt that believers would say that we would be lucky to see any snow this year, and most likely we would be wearing shorts in December because of "global warming".

Now that we are having record snow falls, the believers are claiming that the snow is caused by global warming, and they commissioned "studies" that prove "conclusively" that the record snows and cold are due to "global warming".

If climatologist can't forecast the climate 2 months from now, how can we trust or believe the predictions they are making 50 years from now?

Clearly they are just taking a guess. No one can predict the future. Any prediction is no better than a coin toss.

Can't everyone agree that climatologist are just guessing about the future?

Would signing a petition against global warming, and sending it to the government be a bad idea?

I don't know about you, but I sure am ready to institute worldwide climate-change policies based on the measurements of this wonderfully accurate climate station.

The Bush administration's ties to oil and gas are as deep as an offshore well. President George W. Bush's family has been running oil companies since 1950. Vice President Dick Cheney spent the late '90s as CEO of Halliburton, the world's largest oil services company. National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice sat on the board of Chevron, which graced a tanker with her name. Commerce Secretary Donald Evans was the CEO of Tom Brown Inc. -- a natural gas company with fields in Texas, Colorado and Wyoming -- for more than a decade.

I love all the world wide temperature charts and graphs that are posted here on a regular basis. However, I know in five years when this scare is over, like every scare we have had in my life time, all the information will become unavailable. Is there a good resourse for this information so I can keep tracking world temperature data, ocean level changes, the size of the hole in our ozone and others?

This question is inspired by a previously posted question regarding global warming. I sensed feelings of being overwhelmed by the constant barrage of information the media has now chosen to pay attention to, yet sincere aspirations to address the very real threat posing life on this planet. My question really is how do we preserve our energy to face the difficulties and changes we know we need to make, without burning out, especially when our media and culture continuously promote pesimistic view points?

I would think a large percent of people have natural gas for their homes. They could refill the cars at their homes very quickly. I would think it would be less expensive than gasoline. It would burn much cleaner than gasoline.

As the power hungry human communnity continues to increase its need for Crude Oil and Natural Gas resources, with an increasing threat by global warming, what do you think will power the world in the future?

According to me, wind and solar energy have the best potential!

SCIENTIFIC CONSENSUS does not equal FACT.

If it did, the Earth would still be flat and in the center of the universe.

I'm looking for simple information such as:

How much chemical energy is in a barrel of petroleum?

How much solar energy can be captured by any means per square mile? If you can compare photo-voltaic vs. ethanol vs. bio-diesel vs. heating water to power a dynamo, that would be EXCELLENT.

When solar energy is converted what portion comes from visible light, what portion from infrared and what portion from ultraviolet?

I'm asking a lot. If you don't have the answer, possibly you can suggest a forum or organization which has this info.

Thanks.
