No, the flesh eating zombies have all been given day jobs at ExxonMobil.

On the other hand, the sun may have only 5 billion years left:

The End is Nigh (only 5 billion years to go)!
The end is drawing near. Now the Sun has to rearrange its internal structure all over again, as its source of energy is once again the central core. It will contract back to a bit larger than its original radius and will give off ten times as what we are used to now. This phase only lasts another 500 million years, as there are a lot fewer helium nuclei (it took four hydrogen nuclei to make one helium nucleus, and three helium nuclei to make up one carbon nucleus) and the energy production is much less efficient.

By then man will have been replaced by a much more intelligent species, which may someday be engaged in a debate about whether or not it actually descended from the common cockroach.

We've been living on borrowed time for centuries. We're way over due for a meteor strike similar to what might have ended the dinosaurs' existence. That won't end the world, but might end all life on it.

Like that one guy said, live each day to the fullest. We should be happy each day that the sun rises. Don't take your loved ones for granted either.

But also note that people have been saying "the end is near" for as long as man has walked the earth.

Yes the world will end! Well maybe in billions of years when it is swallowed be the sun. Life on the planet will end too in 100s of millions of years, when it gets so hot that our atmosphere burns off. and the human race will become extinct too. maybe in 10s of thousands of years. but global warming will not kill too many of us. there is a higher chance that zombies will eat us. we won't even die off during the next ice age, although many billions will die because of it. So relax and keep a sharp eye for those zombies, they usually have a "save the planet" t-shirt on.

Yes the sun will burn out, probably in 100s of billions of years.

The world will end in a couple of billion years from now when our shining star -the sun- will finally live its life and burn out, but by then the human race and most species will have become extinct anyway.

This is actually a great question. It seeks to differentiate between the fantasy of pop culture (zombies will eat the world, George Bush is smart, Hillary Clinton will make a great President, all that stuff of fantasy out there) and what many of us call "objective reality." The answer is entropy. You'll need another 30 or so years of reading, continuing to ask questions and thinking for yourself to understand why this is the answer. That's OK, you're on the right track.

The world will end for sure. The sun will go into it's red-giant phase in about 4-6 billion years and physically absorb the Earth. The End.

All good things must come to an end. I don't know if it'll be any time soon, but even science verifies that eventually the sun will burn out. I think the estimated timeframe is in the billions, but still.

Well not due to anything exciting like that. Global Warming won't end the world. According the 2nd law of thermodynamics everything will come to an end during the heat death of the universe.

All things come to pass... but the outcome is seldom what we expect.

The Lakota have a saying, "Poco Hey Ya"; today is a good day to die.

It does not mean they wish death, only that you should live everyday like it is your last. And if you can say today is a good day to die you have lived your life well and your house is in order... so there are no regrets or fear.

AHO

No. The world will go. As many people have pointed out there have been times when the world has been hotter than now. What is problematic is whether humans can adapt fast enough to prevent widespread suffering and death. It is physically possible to do it but I doubt whether there is the political will especially in the three most populous countries: China, India and the US.
