The Bush administration's ties to oil and gas are as deep as an offshore well. President George W. Bush's family has been running oil companies since 1950. Vice President Dick Cheney spent the late '90s as CEO of Halliburton, the world's largest oil services company. National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice sat on the board of Chevron, which graced a tanker with her name. Commerce Secretary Donald Evans was the CEO of Tom Brown Inc. -- a natural gas company with fields in Texas, Colorado and Wyoming -- for more than a decade.

The links don't end with personnel. The bin Laden family and other members of Saudi Arabia's oil-wealthy elite have contributed mightily to several Bush family ventures, even as the American energy industry helped put Bush in office. Of the top 10 lifetime contributors to George W.'s war chests, six either come from the oil business or have ties to it, according the Center for Public Integrity.

If you pay me enough, I would be a "genuine" skeptic and say anything you want to hear. I am sorry but I cheat and lie also.

Global warming is real.It is not caused by oil drilling alone. If you see Himalayas and region nearing Mount Everest, the formation of ice has got slowed down.In caves,in between rocks etc there is less ice formation. The waterlevel in summer in Ganges does not rise (due to melting of ice) , going up ,as in the past.In the planes of river Ganges there is no oil drilling.Large scale destruction of forests for economic development, emissions by industries etc create more global warming than oil drilling.Global warming is the price we are paying for our comforts.

Well you know the amazing thing is that despite all those connections to the oil inudstry, Bush still acknowledges the reality of anthropogenic global warming. In fact, he has since 2002.

How sad is it that there are still deniers of AGW when this lifetime oil man has accepted the scientific reality?

Bush has paid lip service to the fact that we're addicted to oil. Actually doing something to end this addiction would put pushers like Bush, Cheney, Rice, and friends out of business. Bush threatened to veto any energy bill which actually would cut down on our oil dependence. The bill he finally reluctantly signed was a watered down version of what was originally proposed, then filibustered by Senate Republicans. Federal transportation agencies still favor diesel burning buses over cleaner more efficient streetcars and other forms of transportation.

What intelligent person wouldn't be skeptical about global warming? There is not concrete proof that we are causing anything. There is a lot of speculation. That being said, I do think that we as human beings should always do what is good and right for others, whether that be trying to avoid something like global warming or just giving your neighbor a hand.

As for oil, my husband has fed, clothed and raised our children because of it. Oil in itself is not the enemy. Only we as human beings can control whether something is used for good or not.

I feel my skepticism is genuine and I have nothing to do with Oil companies. I have absolutely no reason to believe in Global warming other than dubious evidence, at best, presented to me by people that I totally disregard in the first place. the same people that oppose the ideals that I hold dear and encourage the very things I despise are now telling me that the world is going to end because some icebergs in greenland are melting. If somebody that I find to be credible will tell me that it's true. I will take it to heart. Until then....yes, Bush's skepticism is genuine and well founded.

I sure hope so. The gvmt shouldn't take any action until we are sure of the problem and know a solution.

Feel good solutions like changing light bulbs have absolutely no impact on any problem, but are corporate welfare to companies like Wal-Mart.
