I work at a clothing store and we use plastic bags. Why can't they start making paper ones like the ones they have at American Eagle and Guess, for example? How can I address this issue to the people in charge of making these types of decisions???

New house could have better insolation, more efficient appliance, more green potential but it require all new materials to build.
Pro-own house may take some investment to make it energy efficient and green but you don't contribute to destroy more trees, etc. for example.
How would you decide if you are in the market to buy a house?

I am Nuclear Engineer and have always been interested in solar power. I have friends with it, but always thought it could not be practical for most of us because of cost. I love the approach Ed Begley and these people have taken. It is a great idea, and may be the way we can really take advantage of this wonderful energy supply.

We all know recycling is best, but what of those who burn the items that reduce to ash? Is it more toxic to the environment to burn than sending them to a landfill?

was there a particular event: a school assignment, an overheard conversation, or perhaps your own observations of nature?

was there a certain person: a friend, an author, or maybe a teacher who got you thinking about how to protect what we still have?

was there a television program, or a book or article you sought out on your own that got you thinking green?

who or what do you credit with instilling in you an appreciation for the natural world? (don't forget the where, when and how!)

I've read that the contents of these light bulbs everyone is so excited about now will enter into the air, ground and eventually water supply once the dumps become filled with them creating health problems from mercury poisoning in our future. Since I already suffer from toxic levels of mercury, I am concerned. We ought to be able to create lighting without polluting our world further. Has anyone seen research on this?

Many areas in the United States are shipping their garbage into other states because there just isn't enough space at the landfills anymore. Would creating a mandatory recycling program be a good idea?

Why isn't "Don't have children" ever one of the suggestions?

I don't have a dishwasher so I have to wash everything by hand. I feel like I am wasting a lot of water rinsing the dishes and am looking for better ways to do the dishes.

When I was a kid, my parents made me fill up a second sink of water to rinse the dishes but it got soapy after a few plates. I don't really want a soapy film on the dishes. :)

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

http://www.weblife.org/humanure/ is a copy of the book online. I've read it, I thought it was a really in-your-face book that made many good points, and I couldn't really find anything wrong with the concept. I just wanted to know what others think.
