The other greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide, and various others including CFCs, contribute only five per cent of the effect, carbon dioxide being by far the greatest contributor at 3.6 %.

However, carbon dioxide as a result of man's activities is only 3.2 % of that 3.6, hence only 0.12 % of the greenhouse gases in total. Human-related methane, nitrogen dioxide and CFCs etc make similarly minuscule contributions to the effect: 0.066, 0.047 and 0.046 % respectively.

So is there really anything humans can do to effect the situation at all, positively or negatively?

Since the 1970's, there has been a tremendous growth in misinformation regarding the 'environment'. One of the most incorrect theories is that global warming's primary cause is mankind. Flights of fancy are passed off as 'documentaries' by has-been politicos trying to feed their gigantic egos; while hypocritically turning a blind eye to their own huge 'carbon-footprint'. Ice Ages have come and gone throughout the history of the earth; so instead of more, incorrect theories; where is the actual hard scientific evidence to help refute the lies?

It's time for a revolution.
We have been hearing about this country's energy crisis for years, yet our dependence on foreign oil has deepened, our fuel efficiency standards have stagnated, and our greenhouse gas emissions have multiplied exponentially. The time for incremental change and conventional thinking is long gone.
Today I'm calling for a New American Revolution - an energy and climate revolution.
I have a real plan to reverse global warming. Click here to endorse my bold new agenda.
There are five crucial elements to my plan:
Cut oil demand: 50% by 2020. Increasing the gas mileage of the average car to more than 50 mpg is just one way to help achieve this goal.
Change to Renewable Sources for Electricity: 50% by 2040. We could save customers $21 billion a year by 2020 by changing to alternative energy sources.
Dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions: 90% by 2050. We must set strict limits on emissions. We'll do it by instituting a market-based cap and trade syst

why now? i was taught about climate change(green house effect...) as a child at school but the problem is only now being addressed. i don't know about you, but i feel it is too little to late. At a time when china is about to prosper, where our and america's have done is abit selfish.
I doubt the minor changes that are happening will have any effect on our climate. If we are to slow this global warming, we need drastic measures, that are unrealistic but will work. small things like switching off appliances- i doubt would help much anyway especially with the amount of cars on the road today, which is always increasing. You want to help? the only way is to either stop petrol or ban cars from the road, which is an impossible idea, so climate change is and will continue- i look forward to more sunny days.

do they think at all? or do they just belive what everyone tells them?
People say that CO2 is the main source of "Global Warming", but people have actually researched this, yes - researched, and they concluded that CO2 is not even a toxic pollutant! if anything, it will stimulate the growth of trees and other oxygen producing plants! people say that the amount of trees in America have decreased rapidly, but they just say that without any evidence to support this idea of theirs. There is more trees in America now than there was when Christopher Columbus landed in 1492! Researchers have also found out that if the amount of human activity was to DOUBLE the average temperature would raise .1 degree!
so why do people believe what the liberal media tells them? Just because you see it on the news does not mean that it is true.
