I think that it's really interesting to hear people say what they think. I don't agree with all of you, but I didn't ask you to agree, I asked for your opinions, and you gave them. I'd like to hear some more.

Thanks!

The idea of 'man made' global warming is a scam. The earth's temperature is constantly changing, there is no standard temperature. It has been warming over the last century, however, this warming followed several centuries of cooling, which was preceded by several centuries of warming. Temperature reconstruction studies using ice core data from both antarctica and greenland show that the temperature has swung 2.5*C above and below current temperatures in antarctica over the last 10,000 years. Greenland temperatures were warmer than present for MOST of the last 10,000 years. See that attached study.

Looking at the larger picture, the earth is 4.5 billion years old. The have been ice ages (including the current ice age) for only about 15% of that time. The earth's normal state should not have large areas of glaciation. The earth needs to warm quite alot more to get back to 'normal.'

As mentioned earlier the only place is in United States where it's in question, and it's only in question in the minds of those people who are too uninformed to see otherwise. The Pentagon in 2003 released a study stating that it is the single biggest threat to national security
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/tech/nextnews/archive/next040227.htm

If the pentagon thinks it's a threat, why is it that everyone in the US don't think so?

Also I don't even want to see someone quoting www.junkscience.com. Did you know that Steve J. Milloy was a columnist for fox news (Rupert Murdoc), a paid avocate of Phillip Morris and ExxonMobil? How rotten do you have to be before people start questioning our opinion anyway?!

Sure, Al Gore consumes lots of energy and maybe he's not as honest as everyone says, but when one is dealing with public figures, one must make a decision on the lesser of two evils. No one has a 100% clean bill... just some are cleaner than others. I think he should be allowed some faults for influencing the number of people that he has with his documentary.

It is, to me astonishing that this is still in question. Here's perhaps the how and why. A factor in the "How" question, comes from the fact that there's a large religious right in the United States that have "faith" that god will correct our mistakes. Another school of believe is the disbelief or rather denial. (first step in alcoholism). Why is it still in question? Because we have people like Steve J. Milloy, Rupert Murdoc and our administration that are spewing out disinformation so that they can continue to fill their own pockets at the cost of moral bankruptcy. It makes sense that people are confused. I just hope that people do their due diligence before they decide to believe one side or not, and if they haven't they should just shut up.

At first I thought that we could go directly at addressing the problem but as with alcoholism, we as a public need to get out of the "denial" phase. The problem is that it is well too late. This is a positive feed-back system. The more global warming gases are expelled, the more the glaciers are melting creating more air vapor which is the largest greenhouse gas. The estimates that are made by scientists today have grossly overestimated the time we have before a catastrophy because they are mostly depending on the fact that this is a linear system. So the better questions to be asked are: What do we do when the water levels rise 7-14 meters displacing 40million+ people and nearly all the airports on both East and West Coast are under water? Are we prepared for the global freeze over caused by the desalination of the oceans? And what do as a global public voice to those idiots like Steve J. Milloy who didn't believe us?

Some of these questions (the first two) are addressed in the pentagon's independent report. This should be on every headline in the United State five days a week, but then again, this truth would cause riots in every major city because people are still in the matrix and haven't taken the red pill.

Global warming isn't a scam it's just bad science. The fact is that if you want to measure the temp of the planet you measure it in the mid atmosphere and the registered change in that region is less than the variance of our measuring devices during that same time period. The fact is that on the surface there are and always have been climate changes. For instance, when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth the planet was much much warmer to the point that there was much in the way of a polar ice cap at either pole. Additionally, even 1600 years ago the planet was warmer than it is now using real science. The problem with the so called environmentalist like Gore and DiCaprio is they formed their conclusions then went looking for evidence to back them up (while tossing aside evidence that contradicted their preformed conclusions). Unfortunately, if you want the truth, that's not how you go about finding it.

When you add the fact that the largest proponents of these theories are both wealthy and tend to waste huge amounts of energy it would seem that there is another reason for their so called scientific conclusions...maybe something more political like putting their boots on your throats?

IMO, it's not exactly a hoax, nor is is _completely_ proven true. Remember, the whole question, I think, is global warming happening *and* is it humankind's fault *and* is there something we can do about it. Right? That's what all the fuss is about and the source of so much division.

And part of the problem is our ignorance, for lack of a better word. There's so much we can't see, so much we don't know, so we can't really be sure about the causes of things always. Could it be a natural cycle caused by the sun? Hard to say.

We can only visibly detect a small amount of the sun's full activity with the eye. Of the Electromagnetic Spectrum, for example there's only a tiny amount we can see and hear. Tiny little slices of the spectrum....and our wonderful instruments--still in their infancy--fare little better.

Imagine a road 100 miles long. Of this road...you're only permitted to see an inch of it...to "hear" another inch of it several miles away. It's a bit like that--our knowledge and visbility of things. Except our allotment is really much smaller than an inch...

I recommend a peek at "The Great Global Warming Swindle" on you tube or google -- only for the brave however!

My opinion is that global warming has started and will get quite a bit hotter, before it swings the other way.
Unfortunately, we can do very little to change this, as it is part of a natural cycle and has happened many times in the past.
If emmissions of CO2 etc. was mainly responsible, for global warming, the logical thing to do would be to reduce the worlds
population and thus the emmissions. Unfortunately this would also reduce the ammount of money, collected in taxes and used to fund the exorbitant, salaries and pensions, of the politicians.
If they were all so sure of the global warming, why aren't they
advising everybody to invest in air conditioning, instead of still concentrating on heating????.

Scam. All of the little insignificant countries (like France) see it as a way to bring the USA down a few notches. In the 70s, these same chicken littles were screaming about the coming Ice Age

Well, I think it was excellent of our nations' leaders to bring this matter to our attention. However, I think that it is just ludicrous to begin selling Energy Credits like some kind of new Stock on the Stock Market to avoid dealing with the problem.

Think about what is going on and look around you. Heere is the suggested problem... "The Earth is being warmed up much more now than it was five or ten years ago." My goodness... Why is that happening?

Look about you carefully. What makes things warm up? The Sun's rays, right? And what makes things get hot when the Sun shines down on them? Well, when the Sun's rays hit something depending upon the color of those things, some of the light and heat energy is absorbed by the things and they get warmer, or hotter from the added heat energy. Right?

Now what things absorb the most heat, and what things absorb the least heat? Answer this question please...

Well, WHITE things reflect most all of the light hitting them and therefore absorb the least heat. BLACK things absorb almost all of the light hitting them and get the hottest of all colored things. So to keep the Earth's surface cool we should use white color surfaces the most and black color surfaces the least. Right?

Now, look about you. No, no, carefully look about you. What color is your neighbor's roof, the roof of the Police Station near you, the roof of the Wal Mart Store in your community, and the roofs of those warehouses downtown? They are all black right? Oops...not to smart. So we need all of this fancy air conditioning (Energy Hogs) to cool those places off after they have been heated up by the Sun. Oops...still not to smart...

Our population is growing. More people need more roads and highways to get from here to there more rapidly. So we pave the Earth's surface with what??? BLACK ASPHALT.
And we wonder why the Earth is getting warmer??? Oops, not to smart... We should change the color of BLACK ASPHALT to WHITE ASPHALT and use Black or Red lines on it to mark out turns, edges, and center stripes. We can do it, but we are not doing it.

Global warming is occurring but it is due to natural causes, like a solar cycle, than anything humans are doing.

I know the hysterical enviro advocates are shouting about the rise in CO2 that is attributed to burning fossil fuels. They want to make you think that CO2 is the main reason why the earth is getting warmer.. But they will not tell you ALL the facts...
FACT 1: Water vapor makes up 95% of all greenhouse gases and CO2 makes up 3%. Nobody's complaining about there being too much water vapor... why not?
FACT 2: Methane is a stronger greenhouse gas than CO2. This comes from natural sources, and cows... nobody's saying we need to curb methane production... why not?
FACT 3: The human contribution to CO2 makes up about 0.1% of the make up of greenhouse gases.... That's 1/10 of 1%... It's not enough to make any difference, because on any given day the natural variation of water vapor on the earth is 10X greater than than the total human contribution of CO2!!!!

Ignorant people want to blame the USA and President Bush for not doing more to stop global warming. Fact is there is no action that can be taken to stop the sun from going through its normal cycles. The sun has been putting out more heat in recent years. Its been melting the polar caps on Mars just like it does on earth.

That's the facts.

It's a Real cause because we use cars, cleaners, and other poisens. We don't recycle(Most don't), To recycle you have to pay. No one wants to pay to do something they should. The point is we should get paid to recycle the weather will get warmer and warmer and eventually all Ice will melt including the big Iceburg called "Greenland." All the Countries will be covered in water.Starting with North America, Australia, and South America Because of Greenland and Antarctica. If we get lucky, Eurasia(Europe and Asia) and Africa will survive the extra water and everyone can find a way to get to Eurasia and Africa by boats. BUT!, Then it will be really crowded so most will probably die and it is a serious problem for everyone.

Climate change is natural.....it's been going on for years.

The only opinion I have is to recycle as much as possible and quit littering.

The Inconvenient Truth is the third-highest-grossing documentary in the United States to date.
The film's distributor, Paramount Classics, is donating 5% of the box office receipts and Gore is donating all of his proceeds from the film to The Alliance for Climate Protection (of which Gore is both founder and chairman).

If it was such a sucessful documentary, why is Paramont donating ONLY 5% ? And Gore is putting 100% to a company he is chairman............sounds odd to me.
