I love nature very much, but the GW apocalypse that has been prophesied is very questionable to say the least. In 1975, the infamous "they" predicted on the cover of Time magazine that we were about to enter a new ice age, but it didn't happen. For me, "they" have serious credibility issues and should be taken with a sense of humor as they cry that the sky is falling....again.
To me, it seems that there is something behind the GW scare other than concern for the planet and its inhabitants. Moolah. Issues are presented to Congress and fight for funding every day. We are talking about billions of dollars of revenue. Billions. 1,000,000,000 is one billion. One one hundredth of one percent (.001%) of a billion dollars is one million dollars and most people never make a million dollars and if they do it usually takes a lifetime. Can you fathom that? That is a lot of money and unfortunately is very tempting to the corruptible.
In a perfect world, we wouldn't have to worry that our leaders would have ulterior motives and would never lie about something as near and dear to us as the Earth. You wouldn't think they would say a country has weapons of mass destruction and never be able to show them. A side note, whatever happened to all the cash that was found in the different holes in the ground in Iraq? (but that is a different story line, or is it?) You wouldn't think that someone could set up bogus charities to exploit starving children in Africa either, but greed knows no limits these days, does it?
GW is a powerful catalyst in herding the people toward warmly embracing legislation for population control, travel restrictions, rationings for energy and food usage, regulation of the economy, etc. Of coarse, who enforces things like this? The government through Gestapo, the KGB, I mean the police, FBI, IRS etc. If the government sanctions the things I listed, do you know what that is? Communism!
In my opinion, GW propaganda is similar to a boxer's strategy in the ring. When a boxer punches to the body, it hurts but won't knock the opponent out. The goal is to wear down the resolve of his opponent and get him to drop his guard so he can throw a right cross or left hook to the head that will knock his opponent out. After the boxer drops his guard, blamo, its "nighty night time, see you when you wake up, if you wake up." I am of the opinion that Americans are being worked over to let their guard down so the enemies of freedom can land a vicious combo to erase the American way of life from the planet. Why? Moolah and lots of it.

Once, I saw a documentary about the global warming and the scientists said that there are two major reasons that cause global warming. They are greenhouse gasses and a climate patern. I believe that global warming is a climate patern (The earth began with very high temperature, then got colder and entered the ice age, then the ice melt down, the temperature was raising, then decreased for a little bit, then now it is increasing) and greenhouse gasses just make the global warming become faster. I believe it because human generations are too old (every extreme change in climate cause mass extinction). There must be the end of the world for human and it is due to global warming.

First of all, before asking opinion on global warming, you need to ask yourself a very simple basic question: what do you care about? If you only care about yourself, then global warming did not concern you as even the most dramatic prediction shows that the earth will be 5 degree C warmer by 2100. (base on IPCC) note: if you are doing this base on a science project, throw in IPCC (intergovermental panel on climate change) and your grader will be impressed ^^
By 2100 you, and anyone reading this should be dead by then. If you live in a developed country, then global warming is even further from your problems as money can in fact buy comfort and safety (heat waves in europe, which some argue is affected by global warming, only kill the old and the poor. All you need to counter the heat waves is to switch up your air conditioning.
In a scientific point of view, the "truth" about global warming probably cannot be answered until at least a hundred year later (to see if it is caused by human or simply a cycle). Do you want to risk your great-great- grand children's future / old and poor in europe/ simply by driving a huge SUV/ wasting electricity to maintain your own comfort lives, it is your own call and it base solely on your value.
So in my opinion, global warming is more a question on values rather than science.
btw, the term "global warming" is out. The "in" word is "climate change"

My opinion is that global warming constitutes a serious threat to mankind. True, global warming is a natural cycle of events that occurs on Earth (and some other planets) every ten thousand years or so. But, our man-made "industrial revolution" has helped to speed the natural process along, which interferes with that natural cycle.
Our smoke-belching factories and massive vehicle emissions from millions of cars and trucks has certainly changed the natural order of things.
We have ignored the fact that we were given 'dominion' over the Earth. We've forgotten that there is a delicate ecological balance between man, plants and animals that allows us all to survive on this planet.
If you think that the melting polar ice caps will not affect you, you're wrong. As remote Eskimo tribes and polar bears vanish, cities on both coasts of both oceans will be subjected to severe flooding, torrential rains, terrible tornadoes, and horrendous hurricanes. It will drive human life inward, away from the coasts.
And someday in the not-too-distant future, your grandchild will crawl up on your lap (or perhaps your great-grand child) and ask, 'WHY, Grandma Katie? WHY did you know about global warming and all the environmental issues of your day - and yet you CHOSE to ignore them? WHY didn't you choose to try to protect and preserve the fragile environment so that me and MY children can enjoy the same kind of life YOU did? Why do WE have to wear gas masks in order to breathe fresh air? WHY can't WE find enough clean drinking water? Why are the landfills you tossed all YOUR trash into now leaching into OUR groundwaters? WHY, Grandma Katie? WHY??"
How will you answer your grandchildren? -RKO- 5/20/07

The earth has undergone periods of warming and cooling on a number of occasions in the past. One thousand years ago the earth was much warmer than today then we experienced a mini ice age. In the period 1974 to 1978 climatologists told us we were again entering a new ice age. This did not occur. Now we are told that we are entering another period of global warming. Science is not always right, and one must be a skeptic.

Global Warming is a natural occurrence due to changes in the sun. Mars is also warming due to the sun. A real good science project would be to debunk the global warming myth of man made causes. You will probably get a bad grade because your uninformed school science teacher will want you to present his/her agenda, but the youth of our country need to start using their brains instead of buying the indoctrination of our public schools, liberal media, and power (money) driven "public servants". If you remember, the earth was covered with ice at one time. This was called the ice age. Even your science teacher may be aware of this. That ice is now gone! It's probably warmer now! This all happened before cars, planes, power plants, and yes, even Al Gore! There are plenty of respected scientists who refute the man made global warming myth and should be easy to find doing internet searches. The problem for them is it is hard to get funding if you don't go along with the liberal power's agenda, but there are real scientists out there that do report FACTS. Do your research, be honest, and I hope you get a good grade! GOOD LUCK.

Liberals like Broadsword demonstrate the FACT that GW is a political power play. The truth is that the sun varies in its output over time. We had Global Warming back in the Middle Ages, too. I suppose that caused the Black Death?
Don't be so gullible. Most Global Warming is just political hot air.

When people talk about global warming they are talking about earth's warming due to human activity -- specifically the burning of fossil fuels and the production of CO2 a greenhouse gas.
When it comes to greenhouse gases we must acknowledge that 95% of the greenhouse gases are made up of water vapor. Yes, plain old water makes up the vast majority of the greenhouse gases. Carbon dioxide, the gas everybody blames for global warming only makes up 3% of the greenhouse gases.
Now human activity does increase the amount of CO2 by about 10%. But that means that human activity only adds about 1/10 of 1% to the total amount of greenhouse gases.. The vast majority of greenhouse gases... about 99.5% are all natural...
So, what is causing the polar ice caps to melt? Why is the earth getting warmer? Well, global warming is caused by increased activity of the sun.. The sun has these natural cycles it goes through and we are experiencing increased activity from the sun that causing earth to get warmer. The same thing can be said of for the other planets. Mars in fact, is also experiencing a melting of its polar ice caps. And that is not due to human activity.

I'm scared for when I have children that something will be wrong with out planet. Everyone knows about global warming... and no one is doing anything about it! And it makes me sad. My neighbor had a bon-fire the other night, and burned a huge tractor tire. I know that its illegal to burn rubber, and he still did it! But what made me even more mad is that he didn't care for our environment. I'm scared that when I have my children, that our world will be destroyed, and no one will even do anything. Thats whey I'm trying my best to do everything, like recycle and stuff. The only problem is that I don't know what else to do to help our planet! And it's just really sad.

Environmentalism as we know it --as Al Gore, PETA and Greenpeace know it-- is the most powerful and destructive religion since Inquisition-era Catholicism. It's getting harder to be an atheist in a world where scientists have become as gullible as a desperate kid at a tent revival. Like contemporary creationists, environmentalists "cherry pick" through the facts of reality, accepting whatever appears to support their beliefs and simply disregarding the rest.
