The four IPCC reports that have come out since 1990. Global warming isn't some new socialist buzz word, it's actually science that is continually studied and updated over the last 3 or 4 decades by thousands of the world's leading climatologists, glacierologists, oceanologists, biologists, botanists, etc. Also look at negative feedbacks. Factors that once checked warming like the ocean, rain forest, plankton, and glaciers are all disappearing and now contribute to warming. Understanding climate and surface warming necessitates a little understanding of negative and postive feedback cycles.

From common sense. Man's population has never been so great and we have never been industrailized in this way. Burning fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, and reducing forests increases CO2 production. Increasing meat production increases methane production. Human's (relatively small) production of CO2 and methane has shifted the balance and the earth now produces more CO2 than it takes up - causing a build-up of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere which traps the heat on the earth. Global warming does not happen drastically, nor do we see a drastic temperature change on most of the planet except at the poles where we are seeing the destruction of the poles and posible extinction of the Polar Bear if it is not reversed. But this gradual change will at some point cause a profound rapid change on the earth once we reach that point of no return.
I hope this helps. The only thing constant in life is change:)

Don't you love AD's 'answer?' Linking tectonic plates and volcanic eruptions to climate change, in any context other than showing how God and nature can spew out more CO2 in a day than Detroit does in a year, illustrate much of the absurdity of fervent believers in the cult of anthropogenic climate shift.
I'm on vacation right now, studying rising ocean levels. Just this morning, the water was three feet lower than it is now. The ocean has risen over three feet IN LESS THAN SIX HOURS! Can't you see we are in the midst of a catastrophe?

From scientists.
What global warming nay sayers fail to realize when they use "natural warming periods" as their defense is that during those periods the Earth was able to correct itself because greenhouse gases remained at naturally occurring levels. Even if this warming period is "natural", humans are producing greenhouse gases at an extremely unnatural rate. Therefore, the "greenhouse effect" will probably not be able to correct itself due to untethered greenhouse gas emissions. Many scientists agree.

there are none! global warming is natural. Its caused by the earth, sun, ocean currents, ect. Its caused by loud mouth democrats preaching that there is a problem to try and gain popularity on false information. Its all a lie man!!!
dont you people ever watch the discovery channel or the history channel? there was a very interesting show last night on the history channel about the mini ice ages.....some areas were covered with ice, received more rain, were colder while other areas were hotter and drought stricken. it happens. Apparently this winter global warming wasnt here in colorado as we received record amounts of snow and it was extremely cold!!!!!!!!!!!! at 10 degrees id cheer for a 1 degree temp increase. Dont be a follower. I encourage you do do your OWN research, watch these programs that are not controlled by the democratic party and learn the real truth

There is a plethora of scientific facts that lead me to believe that global warming is a danger to our planet.
There is also an equally massive mountain of scientific facts that might lead others to believe that global warming is a "myth", a "hoax", or an outright lie. These are the "chicken littles" of our society, who keep warning that the sky is falling, the sky is falling.
Those who are concerned about the delicate ecological balance between man, plants and animals will most likely side with those facts that that validate their concerns. These are the "hares" of our society, who keep a positive attitude about everything, claiming that everything's going to work out and there's no need to panic about anything.
Those who don't agree that the environment is, indeed, endangered will most likely side with those facts that are in confluence with their arguments.
So, just as all 'scientific facts' can be proved or disproved, this issue shouldn't be about 'facts' at all. It should be about good old-fashioned common sense.
I guess my question is this: environmental issues aside, WHY would we deliberately CHOOSE to squander our natural resources, willfully waste precious materials, and intentionally continue to remain a 'disposable' society just because "we can"??
It would be like all those "hares" GIVING ME ALL THEIR MONEY and letting me squander it as quickly as I can. Is it not pragmatic, frugal, and intelligent to try and preserve the Earth's resources and protect the global environment - even if there's "plenty" there to last us for millions of years? What's the sense of such wastrel??
Let's assume that the polar ice caps aren't melting, and global warming poses no threat to the polar bear, isolated Eskimo tribes, or all of the coastal cities on both coasts of both major oceans. Does that mean we should simply go on expelling vehicle emissions into the air and allowing smoke-belching factories to pollute our waters? Doesn't it make sense to practice conservation just from a pure standpoint of human practicality?
Many believe we were given 'dominion' over the Earth, including all of its resources, oceans, plants and animals.
At the rate many of our species are becoming extinct, or at least endangered, we're not doing a very good job. Just so more cattle can graze and McDonald's can sell us billions and billions more cheap hamburgers, we continue to allow the rain forests to be chopped down at an alarming rate. Just because we want to build luxurious oceanfront condo communities, we tear apart mangrove forests so vital to so much sea life. Just because we want to impress our friends by eating $100 sushi appetizers in a five-star restaurant, we have almost depleted the ocean's supply of wild bluefin tuna. Just because we want to continue driving $65,000 gas-guzzling SUVs instead of more fuel-efficient compact cars, we keep on polluting the air and water that we depend on for the sustenance of our very own lives. Just because it's too inconvenient to REduce, REuse, and REcycle all of our waste, we carelessly toss it into landfills which will one day leach and poison our grandchildren's drinking water.
So, regardless of what your posture might be on the issue of global warming, WHY ON EARTH would you choose to destroy the fragile ecological balance between man, plants and animals just for your own leisure and personal convenience?? Just because, I guess........ -RKO- 5/21/07

I think Global Warming is perfectly natural, remember the Sahara Desert was once a sea-bed.Blaming it on our 'carbon footprints' is just a money-making scam. It's another excuse for imposing taxes & other penalties on the people.

By determining the temperature of our waters. have you notice the change in climate the past two months. If you oull up stats from 1960, 70 80 90 and 2000, you can see the rise in water. also if live in coastal areas around the border of tour continent you can see how land is disapearing.
That means more water is been added to the ocean, so that concludes ice melting.
tecttonics plates, volcanoes erupting in washington, higher earthqueakes in Cali, no hurricanes yet in the atlantic, bad summer for everyone this year.
