The cost of gasoline is at an all time high. Will purchasing smaller, more economical vehicles aid in the reduction of consuming gas and funds expended ? Are SUV's and other large vehicles necessary for normal day to day driving? Is big and bigger vehicles needed as family size vehicles?

In the immediate, short, medium, long and very long terms? Because then price spikes, fluctuations and increases in other energy production methods will be insulated against, right? Plus once the green energy industry takes off prices will come down more and more while we know many other forms of energy production will get more and more expensive especially those forms that are not renewable or have expensive waste storage, pollution or emission problems.

If global warming is caused by the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere by humans, how come is that when all homes in the UK were heated by coal and they all belched out tons of carbon ie smoke and soot(we had 7 fireplaces in our house when I was younger) and most of the manufacturing industry was defined as heavy (steel, shipbuilding etc) there was no global warming panic then. In fact in the 70's the scientists were predicting that we were heading for another ice age. Did they get that wrong or what. As for statistics anything can be proved with numbers for your own slant.

Environmental issue is not necessarily a religious issue but just like political issues, people with different religions may respond to environmental issues differently. For example, the term "Mother Earth" is used among some enviromentalists to suggest the ties between the Earth and humans. The term has received some criticisms even though it might not be the majority opinions. Can you think of other examples and do you think environmental issues would be more accepted if more neutral terms are used in their slogans?

Think back in time to the late 70’s and early 80’s. What was the big environmental hype at that time? It was the hole in the Ozone layer. If you believe today’s environmentalists this is how they explained away the huge hole in their argument about why between the 40’s and the early 80’s, CO2 was increasing, but global temperatures were falling. Falling so much that at the time they were predicting the next Ice Age. They dismiss the obvious and documented connection between global temperature and solar activity in favour of this being a result of our use of CFC gasses and claim victory for preventing the next Ice Age.

So, here is the point. If the over use of CFC gasses was going to take us to the next Ice Age a mere 20 years ago and now they are banned we are heading for catastrophe over Global Warming. Surely the most effective way to prevent the Global Warming catastrophe in the short to medium term is to do a controlled release of CFC’s over a period of time back into the atmosphere to restore the balance. Not enough to damage the Ozone layer but just enough to halt any rise in global temperature and maintain current levels.

Personally I think it is all complete nonsense and they should take another look at the comparative data between solar activity, CO2 and global temperatures.

Since we exhale CO2 every time we breathe, wouldn't that help to reduce the effects of Global Warming?

2007-05-25 05:46:03 · 14 answers · asked by sigguy 2 in Global Warming

That's a broad and vague question. Nothing would make me happier than if this utopian idea were possible, but wouldn't the U.S. economy collapse, or at least decline if it were to drastically reduce CO2 emissions and use manufacturing processes that caused less environmental damage?

How does some compare Global warming on earth with dead plant I don't think it would be accurate at all!
You to got remember that this would be so much different than our atmosphere.
It would be hard for anyone to compare data. Because you have living plants that
consume the carbon dioxide here on Earth.

Really all of these dead planets trying to compare them to or earth
is kind of difficult and really complex one. You would have calculate
the fact that we have plants and they don't this would account for
atmosphere gases changing but not in other in other planets.
