It is a great Idea. The water from your laundry and shower used to water your garden. I am going to look into it.

I also want to collect rain water off my roof.

I was in Arizona and the place was landscaped so all the rain that fell on the property staid on the property.

If you're in Maryland, especially in any urban area, it's probably illegal. There are very few places where it is actually legal to put in a gray water system. If you are on septic, even in the country, it is usually against code.

Check with you local planning department to see if it's even legal before you put any effort into this.

we did it ourselfs, and it costs about 200.00 I am sure we have saved that much in the year, and by recycling the water from the house into the yard we have a very nice yard.

President Bush has one in his Crawford ranch house. Al Gore does not have one at any of his mansions.
