could it be that global warming , in part, is caused by the deforestation of our planet? afterall, trees do an awfull lot of co2 recycling. so, as our planet gets warmer and more foilage grows, could that be a counter for all the co2? just a "valid question " from a layman.

I'm thinking something like this, that every citizen is taxed like 10 bucks, and then that money is used to fund a species protection agency made up of botonists, zooloigists, biologists, marine biologists, bio-chemists, forestry majors, genetisists, ecologists and all other life scientists who would make it there mission catolouge every species, it's numbers and locations and habitats and then preserve and protect that habitat and do other work to maintane the numbers of a species and to recover the numbers of species in decline. The money would also be used for scholorships in all related fields to produce enough experts to be fully effective in keeping all species from declining or becoming extinct. I think this would be good for science, progress, the natural world, the economy, for helping to repay our collective debt to mother nature and for hopefully heading off the sixth extinction. Anyone think it's a good idea? Anyone think it's a bad one? If a good or a bad idea why?

My mother always told me it was cheaper to take a shower, do your laundry and wash your dishes at night. Is this true? Our bills have gone through the roof this winter, our highest being $430. We're in Texas, but we still have the heater running. I never thought it could get this cold here. I have small children so, we can just grin and bear the cold.Thanks.

I think about the global climate changing. I not belive what they predict will happen in the next 100 year regarding water levels, temperature etc. I belive it happens already in the comming 25 years. Its same all the world leaders suddenly start acting. Do you think they know more than us, or maybe they will not make panic to us so they not tell the truth. I don't know, but anyway I can here where I live feel a vere difference in the weather over the last 8 years

accept global warming as the fault of mankind, the earth's resoucres are scarce yet are greed is endless and our wants are infinite. Its about time we all opened are eyes to the suffering of others because of our years of self-centred, irrational behaviour.
There is only so much smaller countries can do to combat the high emissions of carbon dioxide into our atmospher, without the backing up by much larger countires with a vast growing economy for exmaple India and America.

I'm doing a school experiment report and I just need to know whether I would have enough time to do an experiment on what brands of a type of paper (e.g. paper towels, serviettes) are most biodegradable.
Thanks

Somone answered another question of mine talking about global warming being a product of our solar system in general being warmed somehow.

Anyone ever heard of this, or have any ideas about it?

why should we continue burning fossil fuels; creating health problems, smog, acid rain, higher ph levels in the ocean etc. When there is new technology availible that is emission free, but is being withheld by the gas companys. just look at GM's electric car back in 96. They were great, but they were all recalled and crushed because of the oil companys. The oil companys even bought out the new battery technology that was developed. If the government really wanted they would make fuel cell cars a reality in 10 years. I mean we can land on the moon, split atoms, but cant created a smog free car?
