It's too late.
The USA refuses to sign up to Kyoto - a little selfish of them perhaps, but they're only 250-300 million people.
India and China are EXEMPT because the poor little darlings are developing economies. India has a population of one billion, expected to grow to 1.4 billion in less than twenty years. They have THE RIGHT to burn fossil fuels indiscriminately, because that's how the western nations built their wealth - this is the opinion of their Finance Minister, not just some poor dude trying to keep his family alive as a subsistence famer. (stats vary, depending on who you listen to, but 25-45% of the indian population live beneath the "dollar-a-day" poverty line.
Tearing down Rain-forest in South America is sad, but localised - their land becomes unstable and you lose masses of human lives in LOCALISED natural disasters - most of the photosynthesis happens in the oceans, in plankton (80-90%).
The guys who frack up the atmosphere, however, frack it up for ALL of us. So drive your 4WD, burn your electricity 24/7, even if you live in a kyoto country - It doesn't matter - we're already finished. Unless we nuke the selfish nations, which would be just as bad.
C02 is a bad greenhouse gas, but there's a worse one - Methane is 50X more damaging than that. Most of the methane is locked up in ice-floes and glaciers - when Greenland becomes green again, you can set your watch for doomsday.
We know what to do about it. We won't do it.
When the meek inherit the earth, they'll be insects and viruses.

Global warming is at the fore front because politicians found how to use a new platform to get re-elected. The world leaders use it because they found ways to make money at it. This is a made up problem just like Global Cooling in the 1970's. Wake up people. I agree we need to be more efficient with our resources, and we should fine and jail companies who are dumping into our rivers maliciously. I want to stop the raiforest destruction, but to say that global warming is a serious man made issue and we need to destroy the American economy and bow down to the rest of the world certainly does not float my boat. Follow the money on this one and you will see that it is all for political gain and grant money for those scientists who profit off of the government if global warming stays at the front of the issues. Look deep into the Keoto (sp?) Treaty, first of all they took jets to a non-central resort location. Not very environmentally concious. THen in the parameters of the treaty they have a clause that makes it so you can buy or sell polution credits. This is all about shifting wealth and breaking down the United States. This is painfully obvious, just look at peoples agenda. The earth's mean temperature has risen .6 degrees C in the past 125 years. Greenland's icecaps have gotten colder in the past 10 years. The Scientists who do not gain anything on their posisition will tell you that the earth has a natural progression and this is what we are seeing. The UN report is made up of POLITICIANS not a good spread of scientists. THere are as many or more scientists who believe that man in NOT the reason and it is over hyped, but their voice is not heard in the LIberal Mainstream Media. This issue is 99% political, and an attempt to make the USA a socialist nation, and eventually communisim. WAKE UP AMERICA, IT IS TIME TO BE AMERICANS. FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE. STOP THE LIES

So the planet is "comeing" to an end is it?

NOT!

I suspect planet Earth has a few billion years left yet.

So, probably the most important thing that we should do is gag scare-mongers like you!

Let's face facts, planet Earth is only the way it is today because the organisms that ruled the world in ages past "polluted" the atmosphere by excreting a very toxic gas called oxygen. Without their "pollution" we wouldn't even be here!

And today we are pumping out CO2, but hang on, plants *love* CO2 - it's plant food. And yes, that *might* be warming the planet *a bit*, but hang on again, plants and animals *love* warmth too! (How many plants and animals do you see living at the poles? Most abundant life in the world? Amazon rain forest - on the equator - hottest part of the planet.)

So, don't be so quick to claim that we are killing the planet, just because you've heard a whole load of scare-mongering (much of which has been shown to be lies) from a bunch of people who want you to give them lots of money to fix the "problem".

There's a word for people like you... gullible.

As long as the US exist and Asia nothing.
I love being part of Western Europe, we're really setting an example for the rest of the world. Germany and the UK in particular. They dropped their CO2 emmisions by 17% and 14% respectively between 1990 and 2004. Western Europe isn't far behind. What I really hate though is that we invented this technology in the first place. W. Europe was the first region of the world to Industrialise. To invent the steam engine. The coal power plant. And we stopped using these ages ago. Coal plants are still used but now we are using alternatives like solar, wind and even nucleur (at least it give off no Co2). But what annoys me is that now Asia and all the developing countries are cashing in on our technology and using the older more polluting methods cos its 'cheaper'. China for example is creating a new coal fired plant every week. Whereas America is just to damn lazy to change.

Kyoto wouldn't fix anything - even if everything the environmentalists say is true.
The global warming misinformation machine is so full of crap it reeks across the world. These people do not understand the natural fluctuations that the earth has gone through and will do so forever.

.....a surprisingly solid question i've got faith. that's a confusing job in taking an opinion or to decide for one area help. for this reason, to be common and to grant a common judgment, its plenty greater efficient to contain the two considered one of them to be solid pals like as earlier after which you connect with them to be common and robust pals perpetually. solid friendship is plenty greater efficient than getting separated and related to into undesirable issues. .....would desire to continually detect a greater efficient answer to sparkling up a topic greater advantageous than putting apart a friendship which will convey no earnings on the top. (i like this question very plenty, useful and rewarding)

Don't believe all the media hype that is going on at the moment. Global warming and Global Disaster is flavour of the month in the media at the moment as is Terrorism.
Where was Global Warming in the tabloids when Jade Goody was being kicked out the BB house? As soon as that had died down Global warming is picked up again.

Stop littering - start recycling - look after our environment! See rubbish - pick it up!
Be sensitive to how much water you use. See rubbish - pick it up!
See someone leaving rubbish - say - I'll put that in the bin/trash for you!
Keep trying!
