I've been in the house alone for the past half an hour and I've been watching TV and playing computer during that time. But I always sing when on the computer and in the house alone, so I was there singing, but my voice isn't even warmed up and stuff and I've been singing totally badly. I was singing Misery Business. When I sing alone I just repeat myself and stop half way through a sentence and start again and stuff, anyway, it sounds stupid... but just this minute, my granny who is visiting us, walked out of the kitchen and into the room I'm in! She heard me singing it all! lol, I feel really embarrassed tho, it must have been awkward for her aswell. And she's really posh and stuff and she heard me singing 'But god does it feel so good, 'cause I got him where I want him now, and if you could then you know you would, 'cause god it just feels so good' lol, omg! I'm so embarrassed, help me out!

I want to improve my singing voice!

Before I had my baby I was taking singing lessons and I passed Grades 4 and 5 in singing. I gave up this year because I was too busy with my baby and couldn't really afford lessons at the moment.

My voice is nice and tuneful but I think I am producing it wrongly. I love classical repertoire, but I can't seem to get much above a top "G" and it sometimes sounds really strained. I think I'm singing from my throat but not sure - I need a good teacher ands as my old teacher only really did exam prep with me I need to look for someone new.

Trouble is I'm so nervous! I'm 35 and so not really expecting to become a professional opera singer and so many teachers just seem to think that someone like me is a waste of their time as they just want to train the future professionals. Any advice!?

When I start singing higher, i dont use my falsetto, until i get to a note i can't hit without using falsetto, and then when i sing it, it sounds horrible. It's very noticeable that i used my falsetto.
How should i fix this? Also, when i do i start using my falsetto, instead of just using it for a note i can't reach without it?

My mother and father and all my friends say it's good, and I think it is too, but alot of people in our class say I suck. Perhaps just to annoy me. But anyway, I always have an unbearable urge to sing at completly inappropriate times. Why? Does anyone else do this? I don't really mind so much, but alot of people are ticked at me, so.....

I always understood that singing without training is bad for you but I have not been able to take lessons. Anyhow, I learned that humming is good way to develope your voice (I know that their are vocal warm ups that incorparate humming)...I started to try to hum more often instead of just singing. And then maybe I could go for lessons, but I am worried that I have damaged my voice...for years I would just sing in the shower or to the radio w/out any lessons and now I'm 23 yrs old!!

I wonder how much damage I've done and if I can recover. I'm afraid I'll be told that the damage is done.

Anyhow, I do try humming but I am actually finding it difficult to do alone. My nose is stuffed up or if I did resort to singing then I'm too tired to do it. Also, my breathing is just not great.

Help!! What do any experienced teachers, students, and proffessionals have to say?

What's going on? Will I be able to hum a tune? Have I damaged my voice? Should I stop using my "chest voice", etc..

I have a solo within a song during our chorus show tomorrow. I can sing pretty decently until I get nervous, and then my voice gets shaky and ugly. I try to control it and talk myself out of it, but I can't ever seem to shake it off in time to sing! this happens during almost every solo I've ever had. What are some things I can do to not get nervous?

I'm in my 20's and have had a few vocal lessons in the past but cannot afford them on a regular basis due to cost and other commitments.
I was told that I was quite good and could stay in tune well (which seemed to surprise my tutor). I'd really like to make something of it if I could.
I really want to continue my learning, can anyone suggest anything to keep me going? Is learning through books and cds a good option and if so any suggestions on which ones?

When singing, I find I can sing to about High Bb above the staff with little problem. I can whooh out a High C and bark a D, but I can't seem to reach any higher, no matter how hard I try. Someone told me I need to raise my soft palate. How do I do this? My voice teacher once effortlessly got me to the coloratura F, but I haven't been able to reproduce this. I was shocked at how effortless. He started me softly in falsetto at the C above Middle C and carried me up there on a chromatic scale, but we stopped because it sounded a tad screechy at the top notes. Still I felt like I could have gone higher. But when I'm home and practicing, I cannot reproduce that magical lesson. HELP!!!
How do I raise my soft palate when singing? And how do I sing that F. Obviously, my idol is Minnie Riperton.
