I list lyrics for six songs. You tell me the title and the ORIGINAL artist/band that did it. Some of these songs may have been covered, if also list the bands/artists who covered the songs, your chances of getting best answer will be better.

1. "For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night"

2. "When there's no future, how can there be sin"

3. "Kneelin', looking through the paper though he doesn't know
to read"

4. "I can't go to school cuz I ain't got a gun"

5. "All I wanted was a Pepsi! Just one Pepsi! And she
wouldn't give it to me!"

6. "Finished with my woman 'cause she couldn't help me with
my mind"

I like "Goodnight Saigon" by Billy Joel.

It evokes a mood and atmosphere most anit-war songs don't. It is not really a protest song as such but more of an account of yong men losing everything against an army of young men losing everything. The infuriating stupidity of war!
You gotta love Billy Joel...

Here - I'll throw out a few of mine:

Sunshine - Alice In Chains
Go - Thermadore
The Day Brings - Brad
The Seventh Stranger - Duran Duran
In Fairness - Seaweed
Waiting Room - Fugazi
Superstitous - Stevie Wonder

I could list a few more, but you get the point. I have no idea why I would choose these...I guess I feel like they speak to and about me, both musically and lyrically.

How about you? And there's no need to get TOO crazy here - remember it's just one CD. :)

I mean like songs that make you want to laugh or are ironic or sarcastic.
The first that come to mind for me are:
"What's my age, again?"- blink-182
"Miserable"- Lit
and anything by Adam Sandler

And I don't mean MCR or AFI or any other commercial bands owned by record companies. I want REAL punk. Not Avril Lavigne. And no emo. I cannot stress it enough. She is not punk, MCR is emo and AFI...oh God, do I have to say anything about them?

And by the way: to all the non-thinking people of the modern generation, I want punk music: not some cheap skirt sold with pre-inserted safety pins that don't open.

I have a couple...

1. I was petrified of KISS growing up, which I don't think is all that uncommon. It was nothing about the music - it was just the makeup. I really do believe that my fear of clowns now stems from them.
2. And this one sounds strange, but the Psychedelic Furs, and vocalist Richard Butler in particular, freaked me out. After I saw the "Love My Way" video as a child for the first time I had a dream that night that he tried to kidnap me, and the song was playing the whole time. I could never watch it again growing up, though seeing him now makes me laugh.

How about you? Was there any musical act that scared you, either by their music, their appearance or maybe a video they did, when you were little?

Why do most of their lead singers sound like a teenage boy entering puberty? It's not all of them but, a good majority. I just can't stand the new whiney rock. I just want to know when and how it became popular.

Seriousally, going beyond their idiotic 20 year feud they have some of the worst songs you could ever hear. Dave is probably the worst vocalist in the history of rock and Eddie is one of the most souless and overrated guitarist. He only wished he was in Clapton's class.

Does anybody else hate this horrible group?

I am sad to hear that people say Stratocasters suck. Perhaps when I get better I will feel it's worth it to spend $500+ on a guitar. I wonder how long it will take me to get to that point - what do you guys think? How long did it take you?

In any case, I live in an apartment, and I am wondering if a 10 or 15 amp practice amp is too loud for where I live. Should I get one of those mini amps that play right from your guitar instead? Please advice.

I want to play my favorite 90's rock songs like Enter Sandman and Semi Charmed Life.

Despite their well documented problems and 'fall from grace', in my book they are still one of the best kick-a.s.s. rock bands ever. Its time to stop kicking them when they are down and start remembering all their good work.

Comments welcome.

After Tom Johnston leaving the Doobie Brothers would the band have it better if Pat Simmons became the full time lead singer and continue where they left off? I feel that they would cause I really think Pat Simmons has a great voice and I would have loved hearing him sing on more songs.

The reason why I'm asking is cause I know that the hardcore Doobie Brothers fans were angered with the fact that Michael McDonald became the singer for the group and totally changed the band.

I know Clear Channel had a lot to do with those good stations disappearing, but still...radio sucks now. It's 99.9% pop and "R&B" (note the quotes, half that crap isn't real R&B).

I live in Connecticut and we only have 2 rock stations, but one that comes in real good. There is another one Boston, but is blocked out by some R&B station.

I like a variety of music, but I prefer heavier stuff. i will on occasion listen to a good R&B station that plays the real stuff but, really..what happened to the radio?

(I know the obvious solution is to get satellite radio, but that's not an option now)
