My son broke both bones in his forearm and has been in a full cast for 9 weeks. He will have the cast removed next week, and I am concerned about his handwriting. He is in second grade and the class began cursive while he was unable to write. I have asked the public school for OT to help remediate him. They want to have a child study to evaluate if he needs a 504. What information can you give me that will help when I go to the meeting?

I'm having a problem with my sons school giving him the services he needs . He should be getting OT/SPEECH in school instead of getting them from outside sources. I'm thinking of requesting a meeting for a 504 plan. Once I do this what all documentation needs to be given? His disability is a TBI.

I am about to leave secondary school and go to college but I have been told that afterwards it would be best to go to a film school (I want to be a film director). I am studying Film Studies, Media Studies, Photography, Business Studies at A Level and Video Production as an Enrichment course. I also have some experience in working on films but need advice.

This is probably odd for a 22 year old to bring up but may be the problems I am having are because of dyslexia or perhaps bad memory and grammer? I am at university so things are difficult.

I find it difficult to understand what I read complicated books. When I try to take notes in a lecture my writing is so scruffy I can't read it. Normally my writing is not like this but I find the lectures too fast. Either I am bad at spelling or I keep on spelling words like decieve, or concieve wrong. Thank god for spell checker.
To revise I have to write out the same thing over and over and over again so I can at least remember some of it. At high school the only C's I got were in Math, Art, RE.
So could I be dyslexic?

I've heard that we have some of the highest requirments in the USA. I would like to hear what the other state requirments are. California has a 2 level program with 30 units post BA for level 1, good for 5 years, and another 20 units plus 2 years teaching experience to achieve level 2. But Special education teachers do not need a regular ed credential.

What information would you like that you are not getting? I am just wanting the perspective of a parent. Please no general rants on how school systems are out to get all of us.

I found out about asprger because my mom was reading an article on it and told me she thought i may have it. she listed acouple of things that I do that i have always done and i really don't know why
have trouble making eye contact
obsesion with certain subjects(history,current events)
trouble speaking to peers
ackward in social peer situations(school...with my brother and his friends...classmates)
I remember yelling at my mom because i didn't want to go to a dance that was at my school even though my brother was going and I knew he would watch out for me. i ended up not going
i have trouble just looking at someone and saying hi or just smiling. i don't really have many facial gestures
i prefer talking with adults about things like history and current events because they are more aware of these things than my peers what do you thi
