I am looking for student restraint handbooks on the web.
ANY ONE KNOW OF ANY WEBSITES?
If you are wondering what I am talking about this has to do with very agressive students who will try to harm others.
The handbook will show me what holds to put my students in.

I have an 8 yr old daughter( 1st grade ) with PDD-NOS ( Autism Spectrum ) its time for her IEP reevaluation. The district is refusing to look for a specific learning disability in my daughter. They claim its "too difficult at her age". This child shows no ability for abstract thinking in regard to math and is in the bottom of her class in terms of reading. When is it standard that a learning disability could be found?

I am an older person thinking about a career change. I have a degree my state has special programs to help people with other degrees become educated as teachers. Are there any teachers out there with some insights? What are the considerations, special challanges, advantages and disadvantages of going into special education and working with those with developmental disabilities? Thanks much.

My son has an intellectual disability (hes 13) just started high school in an education support unit. He has been in mainstream for all his primary schooling. He is having some problems adjusting to the new setting and has been presenting some very challenging behaviours. The school psych has requested we get an adaptive behaviour (Vineland) assessment done on him but cant tell me what benefit it will be to him. Could some please clarify it for me. Thanks

I am the mother of a 9 year old child with learning disabilities (due to lack of oxygen). This child has beaten many odds. She was never supposed to talk, walk let alone learn. She loves learning, talks more normally than most of us without disabilities, fights constantly to break through the challenges. She knows she has difficulties, but strives to be on the same level as other students (children). The result of her never ending courage is that she is now in a regular school with the help of a shadow. She is in third grade but the program is more and more difficult and she cannot follow as well anymore.Bcause she is aware of this her self esteem is taking a serious plonge. The school is now unable to help in any way now.Because she has a light handicap, there seems to be no school that is adequate for her. She is capable to achieve many things, only at her own rythm. Can someone tell me how to find a home schooling group or give me some sort of resource. how do I deal with this? please help.

My son keeps getting kick out of daycares due to his disability.
Is this fair? Can daycares kick him out due to his disability?
Is there any daycare centers that take care of children with disability's? His disability is SPD and ADHD and he is on SSI for this.
Also it is possible that he might have Autism or be Bi Polar.

He has been kicked out of 8 different daycares. and They had told me that it is due to his disability.
I thought this was against the Disability Act.
