If you are determined by VA to be permanently and totally disabled, your dependents may qualify for Dependents educational assistance. Check out www.va.gov or call 1-800-827-1000 for more information.

It depends on how severely the disabled veteran is and if it is service related injury. Also, it has to be a permanent disability to be even considered for it. However, there are scholarship programs out there for children of veterans. They can be located online for free through a variety of methods.

First, fill out the FAFSA form which will tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college itself. It provides scholarships, student loans, and grants. This is to be completed each year after January 1 for the fall semester and will cover the entire school year.

Second, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.

Third, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Fourth, high school seniors can locate local scholarships at the high school guidance office.

Fifth, some states do offer scholarships or grants for students. The guidance office should have more information about this, or search Google.com and Yahoo.com for more information.

Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites. There are scholarships for a variety of things including ethnicity, clubs, hobbies, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered onto a form on the website.

Good luck!

It is my understand that the dependents are able to get assistance through the VA, but only assistance equal to or less than the assistance that the disabled veteran received. As an example I used the VOC REHAB program and as it was explained to me my kids too are able to apply for the same program, but don't take my word for it go to the VA and ask. Besure to bring all of your paperwork to back your case.

Depends on state. Indiana offers child of disabled veteran benefits. I know it covers tuition but not books or boarding.

Only if the veteran is declared 100 and totally disabled.

I believe only if you are 100% disabled, but double check. My hubby's 20% and it doesn't cover dependents.

it's possible. my dad is 100% disabled from vietnam and i did. as his dependant i got the gi bill. it is a little different and some different rules apply, but you are accessable to it. so just talk to your NSO and they will be able to help you out with it. i believe you have to be a certain rating for your dependants to benifit from the gi bill but it doesn't hurt to ask.
