I have a 14year old autistic son. He is currently in 8th grade. I am very frustrated with the public school system in my area. I want my son to have the best education that I can possiblly get him.

I would contact your AZ DDD (Department for Developmental Delay) coordinator. I have a child with CP and had live in AZ for years. I ran the West Valley DDD family support group and a few of the parents that attended regularly had children with Autism. They had wonderful schools that their children attended. Another one of your replies had sited the New Way Learning Academy, they are not a school for autism. I had worked at that school for a few months as a substitute teacher, they are a wonderful school for learning behaviors and those who have dyslexia. Also the Latch school was primarily for preschool the last time I checked about two years ago. Please contact the DDD coordinator and try to network with other parents in your area with children who have autism. I do know that their is a wonderful clinic in Scottsdale that the other parents raved about. The best of luck to you.

I would contact your congressman and inquire. My neighbors daughter is autistic. They recently got a miniature schnauzer puppy. The father told me the puppy helps her out alot.
