I’m back in school studying education, but when I was in college before I worked at a discount store part time to help pay my way through college. I graduated in ’98, and the cost of getting a secondary education keeps going up and up. How do young adults pay for college these days?

National honor society, National Technical honor society and the National society of high school scholars and an Eagle scout, 3.8 gpa, the list goes on to what I have done with myself during highschool. No college Will take me because Iam short of 2 forieng languages and a math credit. I have asked every college that I contacted If I can Either A) take adult educatiuon to appease those credits,B) get a GED, since it fully qualifies an applicant to the entry requirements for 2 of the colleges Iam looking at, C) take those credits and community college (and only those credits). Not one college has said yes to any of those and all of them said I have to take at least30 credits (some said 60) of community college and transfer. My community college is not any cheaper than the colleges Iam looking at (except 3 of them). I will never adhere to those demands because it dishonors everything I have done in my life. I would be incapable of living on knowing that I let them push me around.

ACTUALLY I'M PLANNING TO GO to US for engineering. I think good COLLEGES COST YOU AROUND $25000.MY FAMILY CAN GIVE ME AROUND $5000 a year, BUT THAT WON'T BE ENOUGH.SO I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN EARN AT LEAST $20000 a year to pay my fees.I'm very thankful to all of you answering and giving me suggestions, but Plz tell me the reality.

I'm currently at Temple University in Philadelphia and I am tired of the city and the people. I want to go to a laidback college preferably in a warmer location. I'm an elementary education major.

I am a junior in high school and I am looking at colleges. I know that I want a degree in Information Technology (or the equivalent), but I don't know if it's worth the money to go somewhere like Purdue or Rochester when I could go to a local college for much cheaper (not to mention it's closer).

I am very knowledgeable in IT and I am employed by my school as the Assistant Network Administrator, so is a degree from a prestigious school worth it? From what I can gather, it seems that a college degree only really matters before you have your first job. After that, it's all experience.

Thanks a lot for any advice. The process just seems so overwhelming.

I do very well in school. I get straight As and A-s with maybe one B+ per year. I am also in all honors classes and plan to take three AP classes next year. Bio, U.S., and English. However, I recently took the PSATs and was in the 70th percentile. Yes, above average, but low compared to students who wish to go to excellent colleges. Most of my other very astute friends received percentiles in the 90s, for example. With my great school grades but only fair SAT scores do I stand a chance getting into a very school such as UPenn or Cornell?
