Most professors will tell you that the general rule is for every hour in class during the week, you should study for two hours.
When I was in college, that is what I did, at least in approximate terrms. (I studied longer for subjects I found difficult, and less for subjects that came easily to me. But I always did all the reading, all the time.)
I doubt most students follow this guideline, though.

my teacher always told us however many hours you put into a class thats how muchyou study I try to do 2 hours a subject or 3 you don't want get too tired.

if nothing is due for next class and the teacher doesn't require discussion for the readings then NONE. but if the teacher requires discussion and participation, or if there is going to be a reading quiz, or an exam or some kind of paper, then I usually spend several hours.
