I was wondering how important the reputation of the school you complete your undergrad is when going trying to get into a graduate program.

I am currently going to UIC under Liberal Arts and Science (LAS).
Here's some info about the colleges and majors of UIC:
http://www.uic.edu/ucat/catalog/DPML.shtml

Im basically stuck in the LAS college and I seriously dont want to go to any other colleges.
Now in order to graduate, you MUST have a major so out of all of the LAS majors, PSYCH was the ONLY major I liked and wanted to learn more about. ALL of the other majors didnt interest me at all.

Right now I just want to graduate college ASAP with a degree in anything (psych), get a decent job (40k or 50k + per year sal), move away from my family, and live in my own apartment or house. That's my only goal in life right now.

I dont have a plan after college, not sure what good jobs are out there that i can get with a psych major, and I actually don't want to be a psychologist (as much as I like psych, strange huh).

I FEEL LIKE IM IN A MID-LIFE CRISIS NOW!

Is my future lookin bright at all? Did I make the right choices?

In 1970 I was drafted into the military yet I was not yet 21 and old enough to vote back then. If the draft is re-instated you will have a voice in your government; hence the above question. Aloha and mahalo.

Everyone else my age is deciding what they are going to go into in college but I have no idea. I have no idea of what I am passionate about and what I want to do. I just know that I don't want to do the same thing everyday and be bored and that I want to do something worthwhile. How did you choose on what you wanted to be and what did you choose?

I plan to major in International Relations, and I'm trying to locate colleges with a focus on IR instead of just offering one or two courses in that field.

I am a college student, and I already have about 40k in student loan debt. I am in a situation where I really need to move (its stressful where I live and I need a new environment). There is no one that I can live with, and I only work part time (its hard to go to school full time, work full time, and keep grades up). Is it a dumb idea to take out 15K in private student loans to get an apartment and pay the rent for a year and utilities? Also, I don't have any credit card debt or anything, and I have someone who is willing to put his name on the loan application as well. What are your opinions???

I'm 18 and I want to go to college to become a plastic surgeon, my mom doesn't make much money a year and thats who I live with. The average cost for a year normally would be around $6,000 but with my moms income I get a year for $2,000 a year. I was wondering with this income how much would it cost to get me through college and medical school? thanks.

I'm a student of English, and I'm thinking of studying in the UK for a year on an Erasmus grant, and have narrowed my choices down to two: University of Sheffield or Cardiff University. I'd appreciate any experiences people have on studying in either one of these universities. Are the campuses modern/urban or historical? What's it like living in Sheffield/Cardiff and what do they have to offer? Is Sheffield as industrial in appearance as one might think? Would you describe Cardiff as a big or a small city? What's the weather like? I did consider Glasgow as well, but I'm afraid the reputation the city has made me cast it aside. Should I reconsider? Thanks! :)

I grew up in Boca Raton and i am going to go to the closest university by my house, FAU, while all my friends are going away. Since FAU is a commuter college, i'm scared I wont meet many people and end up with no social life. Will joining a sorority help? I will be working alot though since i will have to be paying rent and i wont have alot of extra time or money. Would that be a problem when in a sorority? I didnt participate much in my highschool and i want to make up for that in college.

I applied for freshman admission for Emory University in the fall of 2007. I am currently a senior in a high school in middle Georgia. I am the salutatorian of my high school class and was named the star student for this year. I had a 97.6 average in a class of 200. I had a 790 on math and a 680 on verbal. I was voted on as most intelligent by my senior class this year. For my extracurriculars, i was very active in the band program, serving as band captain my senior year and ranking in the top saxophone players in the state.I visited the campus a few times and I really loved the enivronment Emory had to offer. However, I barely made the deadline, submitting my application on January 15. Also my grades in the 1st semester of my senior year fell some and i ended up with 5 As and 2 Bs. I am afraid that this will hurt me in the admissions process. Emory has now become my first choice for college and I would love for your input on my acceptance. Thanks!

I'm a junior and I'm taking regular chem this year, and I'm doing horrible compared to other classes. I plan on going into medicine, but chemistry is not for me. I'll have to take it anyway in college, but I cannot bear to get a grade lower than 4 since I plan on applying to ivys. I'm afraid it might hurt my GPA before college applications.
I signed up for four AP classes next year, but the only one that bothers me is AP Chem. Will it hurt my future if I replace it with AP human geography???
