I've checked Amazon and don't see anything that stands out as "noteworthy."

Lots of very successful dropouts out there...and people from mediocre colleges...

Since every college tries to be "accredited" (which mean they offer the same core courses) what difference does it really make?

I'm currently at a two year community college.

I'm taking a biology class where I have figured the highest I could pass with at this moment is a C-, and this is with 100% on everything, which is unlikely. So, the more plausible case is a D- or D.

I have the option of withdrawing from the class. The withdraw will show on my transcript, and it does not affect my GPA. Or I can continue going to class, receive the D (or lower) grade, and repeat it. The repeat shows on my transcript also, and the higher grade is calcuated into my GPA.

Is it better to withdraw now, or receive the D (or lower) grade and repeat?

If somebody had a perfect GPA, a really good score on the SAT (Like a 2200 or more), was in a lot of extra curricular activities, was VERY good at writing essays, and did a lot of community service, how hard would if be for them to get into a school in the Ivy League if they went to a public school? Would it be even harder if they needed a lot of financial aid? How much harder?

at 2:30 AM and borrow cell phones from strangers on a sidewalk? Wouldn't just a tiny bit of common sense go a long way in preventing crimes of this kind?

I just read about this week's featured Yahoo! Answers user, Professor X. I was just wondering if her name was in reference to the Lois Gould article," X: A Fabulous Child’s Story?”
By the way, if you are reading this Professor X, congrats on being this week's featured user and for getting many, many Best Answers!

I am a college freshman, in high school being active in the school's clubs and my sophmore year I did this community service child outreach program where I spent about 2 hours a week with middle school kids and raise their self esteem and confidence. Other than that I havent done muc community service which I would like to begin now that I am in college. I would be looking for something that I can contribute perhaps once a week but where do I start looking? I'm sure many of you will mention to look at my college but who should I contact? It would also be nice to be able to put this community service under my transfer application. Any tips on how to go about it? Thanks! The sooner I get started the better.

Looking at my 2007 fall USC application I noticed that it asks many things such as extra curriculars, essays, etc...yet at one point it asks to list any special merits or awards received. This part got to me cause I dont think I have ever received any big awards or anything. i'm cool on every other line but not this awards/merits line on the application. Therefore I should look into receiving and attaining some of these awards. So what kind of awards you know? Where can I find out of awards that are "up for grabs" hmmmm?
