it means that how something is seen or perceived is unique to each individual. the most common heard complete phrase is "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"... meaning a person could see something that to them is quite beautiful and for someone else it might seem ordinary or even ugly.
a lot of times how you visually perceive something is affected by how you feel about it. so it's often used when someone is in love and they say the person they love is so beautiful when to others who don't share those feelings that person is simply ordinary.

That our perception defines our judgment.
For example is the saying "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" means that what you may think , believe with all your heart is beautiful may not even be close to another persons idea of plain, and that the person you are referring to is absolutely ghastly and ugly !
Not only does your perception define your subjective judgment, so does your culture and prejudices.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" simply put means what is beautiful to you may not be beautiful to me. It's relative to the beholder.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It means that beauty is subjective, it is the oppinion of the the person beholding it. It can be applied to other things, it just means that it is your oppinion from your point of view.

the opinion of the one who sees it. Say i said this guy was hot. You may think his is ugly. So he is cute to me. I am the beholder and i see him.
It is just a saying. Not everyone has the same opinion of everything.

The modern version of this saying is credited to a book called Molly Bawn published in 1878. It means that people view things as they wish to see them, not necessarily as they really are.

eye of the beholder is what a person likes is what they like but you might not like it. Here is an example, Some guys like girls with big butts, You buddy might like girls like that, but you might not. You might like a girl or guy slim, or average body. Or your favorite color is green, but your Mom might like blue. Its what ever you see and what you like. Different strokes for different folks. Take care.
