And in answer to your question, no, my alias was not chosen in reference to the Gould article.

I chose the name after Malcolm X, in reference to one of my academic interests, the Nation of Islam under Elijah Muhammad.

Also, my partner is an X-men fan, and likes the character of Professor Xavier. :)
