I am going back to school in August. I will apply for scholarships but, I wanted to know about goverment grants for school and how can I go about applying for them. I really can't take out anymore loans for school I am already in debt with them. Can someone give me some insight.

i really want to go to college but I have no money,no car and no where to live. My mom is a single parent and she does not have that much money to put up. So I am definitly paying for all of it if I go. It is a big decision but if I can't find something than I know I won't go. My parents are not helping me at all I don't even know what I'm doing I have to try and figure it all out by myself.PLZ HELP ME!!!

I don't really know much about student loans, but I do know that I could really use a good laptop for my graphic design and web design studies. I figured it would be only about a $5,000 loan, nothing to bad, I just need some suggestions. My parents are saying it's not a good idea, but I figure that I would be able to pay it off no problem. Please help me!

I have been accepted into an excellent nursing school, to start in the fall. I am a 33yr old married mother of 2 living outside of the state where the college is, but the school is just 7 minutes from my home, and it does its clinicals and placements at the hospital where I would like to work.
Here's the problem. Being out of state, I get no state aid from either state, and after government sub & unsubsidized loans, I still need $11,500 per year to go to this college. I have been denied for alternative loans because my credit isnt so good. My father has had 2 massive heart attacks and a double bypass. My family's life changed in the blink of an eye. I have put all my money (ok, my husbands money also) into keeping my father alive-his meds are expensive and at this time he is getting no help paying for these. $800 per month. He was in CICU for 23 days, 30 miles away from home and I put the rest of my life on hold to be there for him every day.

Searching the net to find grants for personal needs/general living expenses everyone has a book to sell.Are there really any sites to go to to apply for grants for the above use? There are many people I know, myself included, who are looking for just enough money to keep their heads above water until they find a job.

I just want to go back to school and not waste the 3 good years I spent there. I have 72 hours and a 3.1 GPA that I cant even transfer. I dont make that much money, so I cant pay them and my parents are more broke than I am. Do I have ANY legal avenues at all that I could pursue?

Hi Yahoo! Answer-ers.

I am in a bit of a pickle. I just got my financial award from my college and to say the least, I was screwed. My college raised the tuition, and now I need to find a couple grand before July. The problem is that my parents will not co-sign a loan, so I need an alternative. I work very hard at two jobs, but I still do not make enough money to pay. Any suggestions? Want to maybe send me some money?

I'm towards the end of my junior year in high school and I've begun to look at colleges, but money is an issue. My parents want me to attend Lorain Community College because that's where they can afford to send me, but I really want to go some place far away from home and live on my own and I need to find scholarship opportunities. The sooner the better. I have been told by many of my teachers that I have a gift for writing so I've been looking for essay contests to enter to win scholarships, but I haven't been able to find any contests yet.
