My mom started homeschooling me last year around this time i was in 7th gr.. i did my 8th gr year homeschool.. i want to go to high school and she is 100% backing me up on this but what i am worried about is getting messed up in drugs,sex,gangs and clicks. I also do not want to have to do 2 to 3 hr of homework.. but i look fw to seeing my friends and going to prom, homecomeing, school dance's, football games. I miss do work in call with real people and not my mom i the teachers and all that good stuff... i am stuck and i dont know if i should go back or not??.....
(but if i go back it will be a diff school with new ppl)

i've applied to the university of michigan ann arbor and i want to go there soo baad.. but my parents are so conservative and old minded they think that cuz i'm a muslim girl and 16 years old i shouldn't live alone...

they don't understand that i'll be 17 when i go and i'd be living in a dorm and that the campus even has a mosque for prayer so i won't be forgetting my religion.. what makes it worst is that my brother is a freshman there and we could live together in an apartment around campus .. but they wouldn't hear it..

also, a guy that graduated from my high school is offering 5 full ride (full tuition) scholarships to graduates from my high school and i have a good chance of getting one..

plz i know i took too long, but just a few more things.. my dad doesn't know that i applied and i don't know how to talk him into letting me go if i get it (as i never goten my acceptance letter yet )

any tips...

I've lived in 3 different states (CA, SD & TX). It was very common in CA & SD to do homeschooling and heard a lot of positive things about it. Here in TX it's a whole different story. Most of my friends here say it won't help my son confront difficult situations in the future and they have told me of a few kids who got "cabin fever" and just went wild and gave parents many problems rebelling. My son is in 2nd grade, does well in school and recently his teacher told me he is very mature for his age and that he's 2 years ahead in verbal comprehension. Everyone tells me he's so proper and well behaved. Growing up I hated school and begged my mom to put me in homeschooling and she refused, now that I have a son she wants me to pull him out of school and homeschool him because he's been bullied (not often though). I've been thinking about homeschooling him starting 6th grade if he accepts if not he'll continue with public school. What are your thoughts on the bad feedback I've gotten?
