how much weight does columbia put on community service for accepting undergrads? I have about 100-120 hours on record and hope it will help me. If this helps, my gpa is close to a 4, I've taken all the APs and difficult courses I can, and I'm part of several clubs. My SAT score, I have yet to get back but I'm confident I scored around 1700-1800 based on PSAT results.

I'm a senior in St. Louis, MO and I've been considering Physical Therapy as a career.
I applied to Saint Louis University and Maryville University in St. Louis. I got accepted to both.

However, Saint Louis University has been my 1st choice but if I go there I only get $1000 scholarship every year which means I'll end up having to pay about $27,000 per year. I just got a letter from Maryville and they're giving me a scholarship of $5,500 per year. Meaning each year I'll only have to pay $13,000.

I don't want to base my decision on the tuition. But, I come from a really, really poor family!

I'm a returning adult student (early 30s), currently attending community college. I am preparing to transfer to university. I recently (two days ago) realized, much to my dismay, that some of the schools I want to apply to require SAT score. I've never taken the SAT ever! So, I signed up for the Jan 26 test, ordered some study guides and enrolled in the College Board's official online study program.

I took my first practice test yesterday and scored:
CR: 690
W: 630
M: 470
(1790)

I'm okay with the critical reading and writing scores, I think I can easily get them up over 700 with some studying. I'm concerned about the math. I should be able to get it up to between 500 - 600, but doubt I will get much higher. Looking at Princeton Review's report of average SAT score by college it is clear that they overwhelmingly admit students with higher math scores.

I'm a journalism major with a 3.9 gpa. Is my math score going to keep me from getting into a good college?

My nephew has been diagnosed with bipolar and Autism. He is having extreme difficulties in school and is in need of physiatrist visits on a regular basis. We have fought for his rights in the school system and have gotten him into a school program that will help him with the issues but doesn’t provide a physiatrist. We live in Texas. He isn't an angry person just an unhappy person. He is getting older and we feel that these issues must be worked on before he enters high school. He can't get insurance because he has a previous mental condition and the social security office told his mother that he can't get social security disabilities to pay for the phyc visits because she owns a house and car. I don't feel that this is neither right nor correct. What can we do to get this child help?

In the sense that "Cassanova" has come to mean a seductive male, I'm looking for a word of similar origin that means something along the lines of a social climber, somebody who will do anything to get ahead, kind of a Machiavellian character. Manipulative, etc.
It starts with "S" and I'm pretty sure it comes from a character's name in a play or book.
