Let me give you an example of what I mean.

I've been watching the Women's World Cup on TV and I hear many of the foreign commentators saying things like, "England are a good team." or "The USA aren't such a bad team."

This is grammatically incorrect, because, since only *one* entity (i.e. one team) is the subject of the sentence, the third-person singular (not plural) should be used: "The USA is a good team".

I hear my folks from Dublin using it the wrong way all the time, and it drives me nuts.

I know it's top 4%, but does it mean that if u r in the top 4% u'r guaranteed a place in one of the campuses? Well i just got a letter saying that i'm not eligible in the local context, i guess it means that im not in the top 4%, but does it also mean that i don't meet some minimum UC requirements (a-g courses, etc.)?

thanks

I am getting an accounting degree from a california state college. I transfered from a community college to this cal state school. So far i have a 4.0 GPA and work as a bookkeeper/accountant to gain experience in my accounting field. I also am planning to do clubs, internships, and some community service to have a better resume. However, i feel like me going to this state college will hold me back in getting a good job and from pursuing my career goal. My goal is to get my MBA from a top program like UCLA or Berkeley, but someone told me that they wont even consider anyone from a state college no matter how good you look. I am so worried and feel like i made the biggest mistake of my life. I could have transfered to any college, but financially i could not afford to go to a UC school and i had to help my family out so i made the decision to help them out. Now i totally regret everything and i wish i could go back. Does anyone have advice or personal experience with this. Thank you.

It occurred to me that we always make up funny stuff in words and wordplay but can the same be done with math? Can you come up with a funny math equation? Is that even possible? If anyone can do it, the greatest minds in the world here on YA can. Don't be discouraged if you draw a blank. It's quite possible that numbers aren't funny, and its impossible. I didn't put this question in the math section because I'm sure there are some nerdy mathematicians that will come up with some obscure algorithm or some such crap that they think is funny and nobody but Einstein would even understand it. I'm talking about a play on numbers that would make the average Joe bust out laughing. Good luck!
