This is really cool!
Okay what you need is:
One liter of soda (any kind)
Mentos
An Outdoor Space
An Apron Or Something Else That You Don't Mind Getting Dirty
Okay take the kids outside then you put the mentos in the coke. Then you shake it up really hard. Get the kids to stand back a bit. Then you open the soda. It wil be a geyser! It will shoot into the air! Make sure you jump back after opening!
The kids would love this!
Or you can check out these optical illusion webpages!

Water and ice
make a few ice cubes at home bring them with you even color them for fun if you like.
Show them that this is frozen water ask them what happens if they can't figure it out. get a hot plate or just warm water and put the ice in a bag and let them watch it melt. while you do that ask them why and tell them what happens.
OR i love this one get a few flowers this is a 2 day project but it keeps them in suspense like carnation something cheap and try to get them white. put a few in as many diff rent cups you want tell them to make a color out of food coloring you help them put the drops in and then when ask them what they think will happen this teaches them about how the water absorbers into the plant so it can grow and become a beautiful flower. Then the next day you come in and the flower some what will be a slightly diff rent color try these at home before you do them in the class.
You can do the what floats or sinks that's also fun.

A wonderful and exciting activity is nature. Animals where do they find there food when most all the leaves , Berry's have gone. When they find it do they eat it all up ? So where do they put it ? This is for all types of wild life , Birds , Deer anything in nature yo can think of. Draw a picture on construction paper place each animal on it each child has 3 animals finding food and where to eat it up or where do they store it. Child must glue food examples , hiding places or say eat it up. Make the Construction paper drawing look as natural to nature as you can, draw pictures, gather glue grass have a great time being involved in nature during winter time. Can get Mom and Dad to help on ONE thing a facts sheet Books --Authors to prove the animals do eat these things and do actually hide them there or eat them up to not have any surplus.

I don't know if it would be considered a science project, but it would show how oil and water won't mix(or separate when mixed). You get a clean clear plastic soda bottle, baby oil, food coloring and water.Fill the bottle half way with water, add a couple of drops of food coloring, then fill bottle almost to top with baby oil.Place the cap on tightly, you can shake it up and they can see how it separates,or just sway it back and forth to see how they move together.Mix other liquids in a separate bottle to compare.I made these with my children when they were little and they loved them,it's even easy to make one for each child.good luck I hope this helped

You could have them try to group items based on something. Maybe have pieces of cloth that are in different shapes and different textures and have them decide which ones would be in a group together and why they think so. It would be up to the student to decide and there are no right or wrong answers.
They may put the soft cloth in one category and the rough in another. Or they may put the squares in one group and the triangles in another. Their chose, but it will have them practicing classification at a very basic level.

Something fun for 3's and 4's is to do a sink or float activity.
Have different fruits and vegetables on hand. ask them which they think will float and which will sink. Be sure to have a few blueberries and a big apple. The apple will float and the blueberries will sink. You can then open up the discussion on why the items floated or sank. Chart their answers and display on your classroom wall.

read a story to them about a vegetable (a carrot or something) then help them plant seeds of that vegtable. You can tell them about how plants grow and what they need to grow. I'm sure the kids can help you with answering those questions (what do plants need to grow? water, sunlight, etc.) It is also very engaging and they'll be thrilled when the plants begin to sprout.
