I'm a nanny, so when I'm with the kids I have to find alternate routes for swearing. One of my current favorites has become, "Good grief!". Then the other day, my four year old charge pointed out, "Shouldn't it be 'bad grief'?"

Which raises the question. Why do people say 'good' grief rather than bad?

i have recently been dignosed with depression and they told me that a lot of it is probably because of stress from school and friends and me caring what others think about what i wear or look like. my dad is at home because of an injury so he would be there. the one i'm thinking of has where you can talk to teachers over email and other kids through AIM and message boards. Should i go through with it or just continue with regular school ?

Can anybody win my special Best Answer award for the best spoonerism? If you MUST swear, then submit the original phrase instead. After all, no-one wants to get deleted.

Don't know what a spoonerism is?
It's a form of joke where somebody might swap the first letters of two words in a sentence. Some people are unfortunate enough to do this accidentally, so let's try to be a little discreet.
An example: (try to find the funny side)
She was so depressed she decided to take a warm bath. As she sat in the soothing water, her soul was suddenly filled with hope.

I am teaching 7th and 8th graders. We are reading a book and I have run out of ideas of ways to have them read it. I have them partner reading, individually reading, using a strategy called fishbowl, girls read one day, boys the next, and have assigned each student a role to read. I have run out of new ideas and don't want to bore them by repeating things too much. Any other ideas on ways to split up the reading an keeping in lively for them?
