My sister and I participated in a fabulous program in SPAIN. The best lifestyle immersion experience available for those willing to learn about Spanish Culture and Lifestyle. This amazingly beautiful town is known for its cultural refinement, and an atmosphere typical of old Spain. It is so much fun!!! And you learn so much!!!! It is so enriching. I LOVED IT!!! Both my sister and I participated different summers and we had a blast! We made so many good friends we still keep in touch with! The program is really well planned out and people are lovely! Many host families have teens. They even allow you to come with a friend to stay in same host family home or in a different home. Check their website www.beautifulspain.com

Peace crops or Americrop sound like might be the way to go for you! Peace crop you can be in any major almost and travel and make a difference. If your in like science, education, doctor degree, foreign lanuage, etc. that's what they look for because their into a lot of research and teaching. Almost any major can go study abroad, but here some that travel for a life time: history major, anthropologist, art major or art historian, artitecture major, language major, business major (traveling agency or advertisement), pilot, army or reserves...can't think of much else. Hope this helps!

Teaching English as a Foreign (or Second) Language, i.e. TEFL. Take a general Arts degree (preferably English or Education). Then do a short TEFL course to get you started. You can work in countries like South Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Russia etc. The money's not great until you get a Master's degree or higher, but it's a great way to travel and see the world.

A foreign language.
Linguist
Travel (yes, there is a degree for this, for those that want to work in the travel industry with cruise lines and such)
International Studies
International Law
Etc.

As long as you speak a foreign language, you can turn almost any degree into something that involves travel.

Diplomatic service or Secret service. Good pay, secure job and you get to see the world.

(Assuming you are an U.S. citizen:)

Health care and engineering are also pretty universal. For healthcare you got the options of nurse or doctor. Holding a PhD in any subject is also a good ticket to a work permit worldwide. The higher and the more specialised your qualifications are, the better the chance you get paid to travel.

Law and law related degrees usually suck, because law is so regionally specialised. (Just think of the state laws in the USA - a lawyer from Texas can't move to New York without learning New York laws.)

Most colleges have overseas exchange programs with other universities; I would recommend checking with the colleges you are interested in to see what colleges they work with regularly. In general, I would recommend a math or science, since numbers are an international language while literature would require a greater skill with foreign languages.
