Somewhere ( I think a school LA textbook) I read that for the Flying ships in the War of the Worlds movie, the models were supposed to ride on a 'pillar of electricity' to hover. However, it said, the 10 000 volts of electricity required were far to whatever to be practical. I never understood if this meant actual levetation, or something about the script mentioning such volts. Does anyone KNOW where I can find that info?
I checked Wikipedia and other top places and they hardly said a word about special effects.

But why does the expression have such a meaning?

In my school ,in art class(only second semestor), we bring our supplies at the start of the course. And the teacher keeps them in a cabinent/wall storage thing.

Whe I was in art class on about a week ago, on a Wensday. I i had by supply box with me and at the end of class , put them in the storage unit like everyone else. I was absent on thursday and friday, and came back on the fallowing Monday. That day, i realized that my supplies where missing . The teacher was "looking" for them and said she didn't know whant happend to them. She later gave me a old used box of supplies (dirty and much of the items were missing). then she was like "to bad, you had a lot of nice stuff in there". She never onse asked to replace my stolen possesions, that SHE was RESPONSIBLE FOR.

I have a biology project, and i'm a little stuck. I'm NOT asking you to give me any answers, but i'm interested in your two cents.

Here is a fictitious situation: there's one liver and three EQUALLY WELL MATCHED candidates, a rich man, age 68, a poor single mother of three little kids, 24, and a 3rd year med student, 25.

What criteria should be used to decide who gets the liver? (i thought it's unethical to decide based on age, gender, or race) Based on this, who should get the liver?

I guess at first thought you may want to give the single mother the liver, i did too, but give it a little more thought. whats your reason to? You don't know any of these people.
For all you know, the single mother could be a drug addict. Maybe, maybe not. The Med student could drop out of school anytime. You don't know. The old guy could be the CEO of a company, if he kicks the bucket, what'll happen to the buisness?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions. =D

I'm really stressed out about how to get accepted in an internship for Radiology. I'm in the 4 yr program, 2yrs in college and 2 yrs of internship. The program is really intensive (or is it just me?) and competitive! Learning all this chemistry and physics, is so hard. I wondering what are they looking for when getting in to an internship? I wondering if this is going to be use on the job or going to be test in later on? I'm not the best in math and I'm scared if that it will affect my chances getting into the field, if i get Cs in these classes. Wondering what do they look for? Also, does anyone know about the national test to get your liscense, what they test about? If it's chem and physics, I'm way over my head. I wouldn't think how hard being a radiologist could be, I picked this field because I love helping people and learning science and using less math. I've searching for other options and there waiting lists to get into 2yr programs. Any thoughts or suggestions!??

I'm in the seventh grade and every two weeks or so, my Social Studies teacher has us take a test over the chapter we have been recently studying. Two or three days before that, she gives us a Study Guide in which we can complete for sometimes extra credit. Most of the time, I complete them but I still get a rotten grade when I get my test back! For instance, last time I got a sixty-three percent! I don't know a good way to study for them. Please help me! And, it's not just for Social Studies; it's for other quizzes and tests also!

I am trying to find out which version of this Albert Einstein quote is correct:

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."
"Imagination is more important than intelligence."

I have seen both different versions in educational material and online so I was wondering which quote is more likely the genuine version (closer to what he said or wrote verbatim).

If someone could clarify this for me I would really appreciate it!

I've completed an entire science experiment, written a report, written a log, and all of the other stuff you have to do for a science fair project and can't, for the life of me, think of a title for my experiment!
My experiment is about finding at what temperature batteries last the longest. The batteries were put in 4 temperature varying locations and turned on. The batteries at room temperature lasted the longest, then the wine cooler (58 degrees), then the refrigerator, and last was the Deep Freeze.
Any suggestions??
Thanks so much!

My daughter, an only child has Asperger's Syndrome and I am having a hard time convincing my family to accept homeschooling her as a viable option.

They think that I am unqualified to teach my own child and that I am doing her a disservice because she won't be forced to interact with her same age peers everyday.

My own experience in "regular" school was almost entirely negative. I was bored out of my mind because the work was too easy and the more I was forced to "interact with my same age peers" the worse my social situation got.

My parents had no idea what was going on at school until I told them (years later).

I have learned most social skills the hard way and think it would be better for me to oversee my daughter's social interactions so that I can help her to recognize social blunders as they arise and help her to assess the difference between good and bad social situations.

How do I convince my family to accept this decision?
