just wanted to know becuase i saw it somewhere and was wondering what its called and what its used for.

well i was using a program to find out how im related to the number 23, and it said the sum of the last 4 digits of my phone number add up to 13 and 23 - 2^3 - 2 = 13. thats where i saw it.

It's called a caret, (some people call it a hat.)

One use is to represent exponents in text

X^3 (x cubed)

It's also a proofreading mark for (something missing.)

And it represents the "ctrl" button on the keyboard. So ^C means hold down ctrl and press C.
