This may sound weird, but it's to help me figure out how many m & m's are in a jar (it's a contest) at my college.

Hi, i am currently in my last year of college where I am studying to become a high school history teacher. Right now, I am student teaching right now in Pittsburgh, PA. I will be graduating from Duquesne University in May. Anyway, I want to continue my education, but I'm not sure which direction I want to go. I was thinking maybe getting my masters in Special Ed, because my school offers a program to get that in a year.

Anyway, if I decide not to do that, I want to move to New York City and I was wondering a few things about teaching there.

First, is it hard to find a job (which areas would be the best to look)??

Second, where is the best place to live (i have some friends in the bronx and queens - what is a decent area for a decent price with not a huge travel time)??

Third, what certifications do I need? (In PA, you need to complete the Praxis - Math, Reading, Writing, and also Citizenship.

Also, any other tips you can give me?? Thanks so much!!!

I quickly rushed an IQ test and got a score of 120. This is above average but I know I can do better if I took my time. I was watching a program on TV about MENSA and I was wondering what IQ you need to get into Mensa.
I know tht you need to be in the top 2% of the population.

I'm curious what parts of the U.S. folks are from who pronounce certain words in unusual/distinct ways.

1. A friend from Pennsylvania says "warsh" instead of "wash". However, another friend has a dad from Nebraska and tells me her dad does that too! Where did "warsh" originate?

2. I know a man in his 60s who says "thee-A-ter" instead of "theater". I don't know where he's from. Anyone else say it that way?

3. In elementary school, I knew a girl who pronounced "pen" so that it sounded more like "pin". I don't recall her having any type of accent. Where do people say "pen" like "pin"?

4. My mom, who grew up in Illinois, says she and her family pronounced "radiator" with a short "a", as in "rad". Anyone else say that? (I've NEVER heard it before!)

5. Who says "Oregon" like "Ore-uh-gon" (i.e. the same way you'd say the end of "octagon"). I say it that way, but everyone else here in California laughs at me. :) I think I got it from my Midwestern mom!
