I don't think it has so much to do with being popular but rather with just wanting to fit in with their peers and be accepted. People see popular people as those at the top of the acceptance ladder. If you want to be popular try the following:
good hygiene,
friendliness
easy going personality
and above all, try to be the person that everyone is glad when you arrive.

Not all popular kids are dumb. Occasionally they become popular without realizing it. However there are the ones who seem to make it their life mission are incredibly insecure. They need the acceptance of many to feel loved. Now, that's sad!

Dumb and stupid are redundant unless you mean dumb as being mute.(not being able to speak) Not everyone who is popular have these qualities. Sounds like someone isn't happy with who there are. I've been on both sides. I have friends because I try to be friends to others. Try it, it will work for you.

At the age(school ages) they just want to be included in many things, so just being invited to someones house or to go out to the movies with a group is very important to them. If your popular you know about things that are "happening" and never hear about what they missed that weekend, b/c they were there. But we all know it is something that most of us grow out of and realize there are plenty of people just like us. I think noone is normal everyone has their own wacky life they learn to love!!

Because in middle/high shcool, if ur not popular, your life is basically hell. Popular kids get to get invited to cool parties, be envied, date hotties, become homecoming queen/king, etc. On the other hand, it ur nerd/geek, if ur not ignored, you get harassed. And popular kids are not dumb. Even those that are dumb are good looking.

Well i'm not dumb or stupid, but if your pop. your envied, go to more parties ect.
but i've been on both side of the spectrums before Popular and unpopular and both have there perks and downsides in fact there pretty much even. I just choose to me pop.

Most kids want to be popular so that their peers will accept them. (trust me I'm a high school senior) They think that being popular will solve most of their issues, when really being popular causes more problems than it solves. I hope this helps.

Don't fool yourself. Adults want to be popular, too. And not all popular people are dumb and stupid. You sound like someone who got snubbed by the "in" crowd and is seething with jealousy.
