What I mean is what is the most generally applicable grad degree that could be used to obtain a good job in a variety of fields? For example, I know there are people with law degrees who aren't practicing law, but have gotten a better job based on the fact that they have a law degree. What's best, MBA, JD, MD, other?

So...i'm going to high school in northern california and i am unhappy. It's like- i know that i'm going to a good public school and if i just HAD FRIENDS i would be happy. but the reality is i don't have like a group of friends at school. you would think it would be easy for me since i'm attractive and i dress nice, but i never go to any parties i see pictures of posted on myspace and facebook and i just feel like i'm totally missing out. missing out on being a teenager. The academic part is a challenge as well. i'm getting better grades than last year, (btw i'm a sophomore, 10th grade) but my spanish teacher is still giving me an D- even though i do everything in the class. It's also really hard for me to get to first period becasue i don't live in the right distict. SOOOO BASICALLY...I am unhappy and i'm thinking about going ahead and getting into independent studies which is sorta like homeschooling i guess. OR..maybe my family will move and i can just start a new school and change.

I am thinking about "Home Schooling" my son. I have had many problems with his teacher and am still trying to resolve them. I keep getting the "run-around". For instance, on his school work he makes 100%-90%'s and on his report card she lowers his grade. I have tried talking and talking and talking to the teacher and principal and I have not reached a solution. I already have my "Home School" verification #(Indiana). I'm trying to be patient and waiting for an outcome to this problem.

That teachers either got a low grade on their degree or chose to teach because they 'couldn't handle' other jobs?

Working as a teacher I have seen several people come from 'the real world' and then quit a little later because they couldn't hack it. Usually they come in very arrogant, assuming that it will be easy, that schools are full of people who failed their degrees, and that they'll be better than us. Then they quit/have a breakdown.

When I worked in the city, people who couldn't hack it didn't choose to teach. Many of them had shoddy generic degrees and cried over the tiniest thing, yet would repeatedly say teachers were second-rate/weak/bitter.

The majority of teachers have 2:1 degrees or higher, have worked in the 'real world' for some time, and aren't bitter, faded swots.

Where has this myth come from?
