The theme is community helpers. I need a good Science activity. It doesn't even have to be related to Community Helpers.

This site has some science activities for this theme or you could chose another theme and look at the science for that theme.

this has nothing to do with community helpers but get a 20oz bottle(clear) put a little over half way full with babyoil or cooking oil and some color of food color fill the rest of the way up with water. (you can put marbles or anything eles in the bottle too) i put a little bit of supergule on the lid so the kids cant get the lid off. and you have a wave thing. the kids love it

to expand on nsw's response... most community fire depts. will come and talk to the children about fire prevention and usually have an activity the children can do such as coloring..... They usually let the kids try on a fire suit, etc. and teach them the importance of stop, drop and roll and have the kids practice. They used to make the junior fire marshalls in my day and that meant that we constantly monitored our homes for safety. I can still remember it, it made such an impression on me...

One activity my kids really enjoyed was to illustrate the concept of "germs" and the importance of washing your hands by using a bowl of water, pepper and soap. You put water in the bowl and sprinkle pepper in the water. The pepper represents the germs. When you dip the bar of soap in the water, the soap makes the pepper/germs fly to the edge of the bowl! Thus, washing hand makes the germs 'fly away'.
