I am planning on taking the GRE's to get into a graduate program for Psychology, but I know that I am lacking strength in vocabulary. Other than reading (which I'm doing) as a means to increase vocabulary, what other cool - interesting - or non-traditional methods can you all think of that may help with building vocabulary at the professional/graduate level?

I have a project I need to do for school (make a 15 page children's describing a mathematician that has the same nationality as me).

I am Mexican and Brazilian, so I need to find at least one mathematician that is either Mexican or Brazilian (or both, doesn't really matter... just has to be at least one of the two) that has made quite a few contributions that would be easy to explain in a children's book.

If the works aren't easy to explain in a children's book, but you still want to provide the mathematician's name, please do so anyways, and suggest a way that I might explain their works to a child.

So when you respond, please include the name, nationality [mexican/brazilian], and his/her contributions.

Thank you.

I'm 15, I live in Southern California and im one who's always said that I'll go far in life, so going to Ucla or Usc or something isnt really what i would choose , if i end up just not knowing what to do then i'd be happy with that but for now i'll say no to those.Ok well here's the actual situation:
I haven't looked onto colleges so i do not have a first choice school. As far as majors go I'm pretty interested in psychology and it seems more reasonable and more of a sure deal that i could do well.As far as careers go, obviously psychiatry would be good but i'd also like to work on movie sets as a technical engineer. Exactly what i do not know, maybe a gaffer or script manager.
So if anyone has experience in any of these fields.. or advice on how to figure this all out, i would be extremely thankful

I'm not anywhere near done with my homework, but I'm too sleepy to really do a good job. Also, if I don't go to bed soon, I won't get much sleep and I'll be in the same shape tomorrow. So is it best just to let yourself get a little behind so that you are restful?

Many people regret their choice of career, often made at a young age based on misguided academic choices at college. Assuming you have average academic ability (no astronauts or brain surgeons please!), you have 50k, and the time and ability to retrain in any career, with future financial investment in mind (no passionate struggling artists either!), what would you invest your time and money into learning?

I understand that general math is very fundamental in almost every field of work out there, but I am definitely NOT a math/science person and I have no future plans of working in an area that includes heavy duty math. What kind of math do I have to take in college (generally) and when can I stop using it?!

I've never done great in writing, especially when given a prompt about writing your opinion. I'm not good at organizing my thoughts in such short time and those prompts are so confusing. But I don't think I'm stupid because I'm pretty good at math. Any helpful tips?
