I am a current UC Davis student who went through the college application process last year. My GPA was something around a 3.2 and my Sat's were terrible. But, I must have done something right because I'm here. UC's like to see determination and a well rounded student, I played music for 4 years, was a Letterman in football, worked as a DJ and did a rigorous law camp at Stanford. You seem to have lots of great extra activities in the medicine field, keep that up. Try getting a summer internship, or job (preferably in medicine) to show them consistency. When picking classes, try to take higher lane courses but don't stress and force yourself to take all ap's and honors. I only too one AP class and 2 honors. Some people argue that numbers mean everything, I beg to differ. My stats on paper wouldn't blow you away, but my ability to write would. I am still convinced that my essay put me in the accepted pile. When you are applying to a university, make your application stick out. When a university accepts a student, they are taking a gamble. They evaluate what this person will do while attending their school. In this day and age many schools have caught on to the fact that numbers are not everything. Convince the admissions officers that you are worthy of being accepted. You have lots of time to build up your application, and you already have some great accomplishments. Pace yourself and take the process one step at a time.

Minority doesn't matter, there is no affirmative action in CA.

Try doing more extracurriculars. The application asks how much time you spend in each activity, so if your internship is only a few hours a week, you need to get some more activities in.

Other than that, bring up your grades and be well prepared for the SATs. If you don't get in, the best way to get in is to transfer from a CA community college, because they get considered first for transfers.

** I remembered something. Your minority status can help you if it was a tremendous hurdle that you overcame. For instance, if you were the only Muslim in a conservative town, and overcame constant death threats to become such a great student. There is usually a personal statement topic that deals with overcoming adversity. But otherwise, they cannot use race to decide whether or not to accept you.

UCD is getting further and extra selective these days so i does not get your hopes up. the huge-unfold GPA of scholars huge-unfold this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days replace into approximately 4.0 and maximum all of them had very sturdy SAT rankings and copius quantities of extra suitable curriculars. My pal had a 4.a million and volunteered at a maximum cancers learn midsection for 3 years, and he nonetheless have been given rejected. you would be waiting to get huge-unfold in spite of the undeniable fact that in case you write a completely stellar essay which will stick of their minds, not purely yet another sob tale because of the fact there are lots of people who've long gone via undesirable issues of their lives. you could desire to make your essay different from each and each of something. You on no account know so circulate forward and prepare yet I propose you besides mght inspect the decrease tier UC's too like Santa Cruz and Riverside.

You should be fine for a UC school. I'd try to kick *** your senior year. Plus you still have the SAT's. You'll be fine.
