i am doing a project and i cant get any thing done cuss i don't understand a word this thing is saying... could some one please expalian to me what it is saying in easy to read text??? tx.

"After the accession of Catharine de Medicis to power, France and Spain drew closer the bonds of amity which had previously subsisted between the two countries; but the refusal of Catharine to adopt Philip's plan for the wholesale slaughter of heretics, produced a coolness in their relations. However, when Henry, King of Navarre, a Huguenot, became heir-presumptive to the throne, Philip allied himself with the Guises and other chiefs of the Catholic party who were in rebellion, and his obstinate persistence in these intrigues after the cause of the Guises was shown to be hopeless, prompted Henry to declare war against him. The Spaniards had the worst of it, and Philip was glad to conclude the treaty of Veroins (May 2nd, 1598). He died in the Escurial at Madrid, September 13th of the same year."

i am doing a research paper on the negative effects of video game violence... i always have trouble at making thesis statements! There are times when i'd be hanging out with some people but when their friends would come a long, i'd kind of feel left out. Sometimes i have no clue what to talk about and what to say. I tried Amazon, but that is the only place I have heard of with a good reputation and good prices. Is there any where else? I appreciate all the help! At the school the books would cost me $445. With Amazon I'm down to $260, but I'm still looking for some better prices on some of the books. I'm looking for new or gently used books. Thanks again!

i have office 2003 with excel in my pc but cannot work it. need 2007, i think. need to learn how. have an mba in finance and accounting but always worked as a business writer and editor. never had to use excel. retired and disabled and must work part-time at least. not able to dig ditches i really must get this done. please help. don't want to attend formal classes anymore. been there and done that long ago. would be too much. to slow and costly.

I cannot think of how it would allowed, but I see it written in books very often. It is even written in a few textbooks of mine. Similarly, is "but" able to begin a sentence.
It seems to me that both these words would need a clause preceding it in the sentence; I may be wrong.

I'm a freshman in college. I've taken my ACT tests. I've done the necessary paper work. I'm in school. My cousin is a senior in high school. It is the beginning of the second semester and she hasn't taken an ACT or an SAT. She is runing out of time. I told her the other day that when fall rolls around if she's not taken any of the tests then she will not get into ANY college at all. She still doesn't seem to get it. My Aunt doesn't listen either. Is there anything I can say or do differently that will get the point across? At the time my Aunt was in college, they didn't have to take the tests. She is out of the loop. Thoughts. Opinions.

Im a high school senior set to graduate in May and I am enrolled in Shawnee State University for this upcoming 2007-2008 year. I would like to study abroad next year (i dont think i can this year). I know some people in a small town overseas and there is a college in this town is there anyway I could transfer to this college for a year and then come back or will I have to go through some program where I cant pick where I want to go?
