Does the correct form of the verb change if we say "There is more than two cookies" or "There are more than two cookies"? It seems like everything after "more" should be irrelevant, but it doesn't sound right unless the verb matches. If you know the answer, please explain.

Several stories and a play we have read at school will be on the exam - including the Odyssey and Romeo and Juliet. The other stories are pretty long. We were not told the stories and play that would be on exam till this past Thursday - the exam will be this Monday. What is the best way to review these without spending all my time rereading? I have 3 other exams I really need to study for also!:(

I am currently 1 1/2 years into my college 2 year transfer program. I plan on transfering to a 4 year school within the next year. I started school about 7 years ago and wasn't putting everything I had into it. I ended up quitting for a couple of years due to the birth of my son. I reenrolled through work to complete a 4 year toolmaker apprenticeship program. I finished and now want to go into medicine, however my GPA is very low 2.26. I just finished fall quarter with a 3.80 and know I can get good grades throughout my 4 year degree. Has anyone started out with a low GPA and still made it into med school? Is it possible? Will retaking classes that I received low grades help?

Do you have a favorite word or just a word that seems really funny? My favorite word is Metal. But some other great words are Goble-de-**** and Hoble-de-Hoy... and Shoo-Fly pie. These were actually in the dictionary.

I am Graduating from the University of Wisconsin - Plattevile in a few short hours and I can't for the life of me remember what side your tassel has to be on BEFOR you graduate. I tried to think back to my high school graduation but I must have drank too much beer in college to remember. :)

MY hungry eyes through greedy couetize,
still to behold the obiect of their paine:
with no contentment can themselues suffize,
but hauing pine and hauing not complaine.

For lacking it they cannot lyfe sustayne,
and hauing it they gaze on it the more:
in their amazement lyke Narcissus vaine
whose eyes him staru'd: so plenty makes me poore

Yet are mine eyes so filled with the store
of that faire sight, that nothing else they brooke,
but lothe the things which they did like before,
and can no more endure on them to look.

All this worlds glory seemeth vayne to me,
and all their showes but shadowes sauing she.
