To start an corporation - there are barriers. You need to select a name, and that name must be researched to make sure no other corporation has that name. You must file the IRS - request for a corporate number, you must file your State's request for a corporate number.
You must then file all state and federal tax forms yearly, and submit any taxes due monthly!

To start a company - you have to do many of the same, but you don't have the protection that a corporation gives you from those wanting to attach your personal assets.

If you want to advertise your business, there are governmental barriers about what is legal and safe, and what may be considered prejudiced, illegal, or pornographic in content.

The list of governmental barriers goes on and one, and it's amazing that private owned business covers about 55+% of the business everday. Many turn public and that varies daily.

And there are governmental barriers from turning a private business into a public business.
