How do you prepare a music lesson for your class and what grade is it? What kinds of songs are appropriate for their age level to teach them to play on the recorder (soprano baroque-English fingering) or even the piano? Any suggestions on how to teach a musical concept like melody, rhythm, etc? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My friend Sheed asked me to ask this question. He is having trouble dealing with his English teacher who is not allowing him to read college level books, adult books that aren't fiction, or anything else that is above his level though he has proven many times that this is enriching and enjoyable to him. She is somewhat unaware of his situation though she has seen documentation of his extremely high IQ, and that he shows on a daily basis that everything is too easy. He tries to do projects and other activities above his grade level or even highschool level, but she doesn't like to accept that he can do these things and is reluctant to change her teaching plan to 1 for her class and 1 for him as apposed to keeping him at a low level. She says why does he make B's in my class if he is so smart. Since he is not allowed to read higher level books for credit, he chooses not to read kids fiction books from the school library. So how does he change his teacher being ignorant to helping him?

What I'm referring to is, the "high volumne" of mistakes IE; grammar, spelling, context etc. It really reflects the illiteracy issues we have in our country and makes me very sad. XOXO Moonpie P.S. I'm sure someone will point out my "mistakes" on this post. LOL!

The world Health Organization approved indoor use of the pesticide DDT, a chemical which must be applied by professionals that aims at repel and kill insects, to lower the death rate in malaria-affected regions, such as Africa, Asia, and other countries as well. The organization believes that appropriate use of DDT can temporarily control malaria since no better replacement is found yet. However, the opposed side, the Pesticide Action Network North America, argue that DDT may cause health problems in our children, such as premature birth and development delay. Besides, early DDT use evidenced its side effects in the environment including thinning of bird eggshells and population decline in certain species. The spoke person of PANNA also insists that malaria can be treated with other less harmful chemicals. One of the less harmful chemicals, pyretheroids, was banned

I'm going to a conference for four days, including this coming Thursday and Friday. I teach an honors English course and two Spanish I courses. English will be finishing reading the play Medea, and Spanish will be learning to conjugate -ar ending verbs.

My inclination is to have English finish reading the play and leave a writing prompt or two and to leave a 20-page worksheet packet for Spanish in which they review every concept we've covered so far, including the -ar conjugation.

I hear movies are not the best choice.

Suggestions?

PS, our school runs on 90-minute blocks.
