Both my husband and I are professionals. He is an engineer and I am a teacher. We both have many of our textbooks from college. Is the information in them worth anything? Should we try to sell them or give them away, or just ditch them?

I had an equation and after I worked it out, it came down to a tri-nomial (I think that's what it's called). But I can't seem to factor it, and I've been at it for quite some time trying to find what x equals. If it was any other typical x^2 I would use the quadratic formula but I can't with this. so how do I solve for x if this won't factor?

I have this so far:
Solve: (x+2)^2(x-1) + (x+2)(x-1)^2 = 0

(x+2)^2(x-1) + (x+2)(x-1)^2 = 0
(x^2 + 4x + 4)(x-1) + (x+2)(x^2 - 2x + 1) = 0
(x^3 + 4x^2 + 4x - x^2 - 4x -4) + (x^3 - 2x + x + 2x^2 - 4x + 2) = 0
(x^3 + 3x^2 - 4) + (x^3 - 3x + 2) = 0
2x^3 + 3x^2 - 3x - 2 = 0

and someone told me if I considered it to be like (a^2)b + a(b^2) = 0, but that doesn't really help or make sense either.
thanks in advance.

I am a high school senoir in Kansas and am thinking about going to Reed College near Portland, Oregon. It looks really cool online and in the mail they sent me, but of course you never know until you visit.
Since Oregon is really far away I am on unfamiliear ground. Do you know when the best time to visit would be? Is there any general information I should know? Do you think the university would be willing to drive me from the airport to their college? If anyone has any information about travelling alone, travelling to Oregon, or visiting a faraway college, it would be much appreciated.

I recently found some of these bricks and was told that trains used these along the Virginia Creeper Trail (over 100 years ago)and that they were often tossed out over trestle bridges into the water below. They are pourus and off-white in color, some were rounded due to tumbling in the water and some have stamps or words that can still be made out. I also found a few red ones that were the same as the others except for the color. I would like to find all the info I can on this, whether it be info that anyone has found themselves or sites/links that can guide me to the information.

I am accepting an 8th grade special ed position as resource room teacher. I have spec/ed cert as well as english/social studies add-ons. Any tips regarding what I should focus upon right now before the year starts?

Also (maybe separate question), the principal hired me over objections of spec coord, who did not like my priv school exp. Any tips for gaining her trust/confidence when I am fairly new to PS teaching?

Thanks for all real replies.
