i was wondering if the spanish taught in schools could actually be used with native spanish speakers. my friend told me that her teacher took a text book home to his native spanish speaking wife who laughed because it was not how native speakers talk.
so now i dont know if it's worth taking spanish next year instead of another ap because i want to know some spanish so i can volunteer at the 08 olympics. (i would have known 4 languages by that time.)
need some opinions/help. thanks

It seems like the punishments at school are not appropriate.
examples:
Jimmy misbehaves....he can't go to PE...so now he misses a class....you would never tell him he has to miss math class!!
Jimmy misbehaves on the bus...he gets kicked off the bus...now he can't come to school at all!!!!!
Jimmy really misbehaves and gets suspended/expelled...now he can't come to school at all for a week-whenever....he gets really behind and he will more than likely have to take this grade over again...he becomes discouraged and thinks he will never be able to do well
Jimmy misbehaves...you send him to the hall.....now he misses the rest of the lesson

Isn't the point of school to provide each child with an education? to get ALL children to learn?
How can they if they aren't allowed in the classroom??
comments.....please give best one wins 10 pts

I've been thinking about becoming a teacher, but I can't decide if I would prefer elementary, middle school, or secondary (English/language arts) education. Could teachers out there please describe their typical days? I'd like to get as well-rounded a picture of what being a teacher is like.

Salary is not a concern, and I will probably not be teaching in an inner city school. I've used my vacation days to spend time in schools, and I had fun with all three age groups. I get the feeling that hanging out in a classroom for a day or two is a lot different than facing that classroom every day.

I am hopefully starting my student teaching in Jan 07 and wanted to be placed at my daughter’s elementary school, for the convenience of being there and I love the school as well. I am planning to speak with the principal in the coming days and ask her to please consider me to do my student teacher at her school. What do you say? Or ask? Any advice will be so much appreciated. Any hints tips...

We're freshmen, in a nice dorm, but it's small, and I don't want us to both show up with a tv and fridge, etc. We HAVE to talk, but she won't email me back. I guess I've only emailed once, but I don't want to seem like a freak either. I called the Res life today just to check if she was still my roommie and they said that her mother had just called, but couldn't say why. Argh, I just want to choose a color scheme and decide who's bringing the tv!!
