We're freshmen, in a nice dorm, but it's small, and I don't want us to both show up with a tv and fridge, etc. We HAVE to talk, but she won't email me back. I guess I've only emailed once, but I don't want to seem like a freak either. I called the Res life today just to check if she was still my roommie and they said that her mother had just called, but couldn't say why. Argh, I just want to choose a color scheme and decide who's bringing the tv!!

Look at the determining factors that will assist you in resolving this issue:

1. You have your roommates name.
2. You have her e-mail address.

Do you have anyother personal information about her? Her address, etc.

Gather all of that information and then run a reverse search for her contact information. I would then call her and simply explain to her what you are trying to accomplish.

Chances are she will not think you are a freak. She may just be happy to know that she will have someone who won't trash her room but will take pride in the way it looks.

If you have trouble trying to find the information, feel free to contact me and I can help you.

I have a degree in investigations and conduct investigations on a daily basis.

Good Luck!

Did you get her phone number? I know when I was on campus, they sent a list with the phone numbers of my roomies.

I would say give her a couple of days in case she is out of town or on vacation. I'm assuming your parents will be helping you to move in. When you pack, bring what you need as well as a few things like the TV that you already have and whatever else you've got. Bring in your necessities and see if she is there yet. If so, see what she has. If you decide that your TV is bigger, bring it up, if not, send it back with your parents. Also, I'm sure there will be a Target or WalMart nearby for anything you need that you don't have when you come up. Make a trip up the road for those things you dont already have. Don't worry about color schemes...most dorm rooms don't really match. You never know if you will have the same roomie the next year so why waste money matching stuff each year?? I would make sure that you loft your bed (if it's allowed) and have a litte extra space for yourself under the bed. This is great for privacy when you need it. Hang a blanket or curtain down to cover that area and you can go under there to hide, study, or whatever. Good luck with school! College is hard but it is also fun if you want it to be. Be open minded and make new friends! Enjoy!

I would go ahead and bring the tv and pick a color that most people would like. It might be hard to get ahold of your roommate but remember you both are very busy. You may not need the tv in the dorm room because she might have one but you can always bring it home later or if your parents are bringing you to college you can send it back with them. I found that having 2 fridges are nice if you have room in your dormroom for it. A microwave is good also.

Ok I'm a male, a junior, and I go to college and honestly no one usually cares about the color scheme of their room. A room is just a room, and if you guys both bring the stuff then decide what to keep have your parents take the rest back home for you. If you need some more college advice feel free to message me.

Are you sure you have her correct email address? You might want to double-check that there was no typo. You're assuming she's ignoring you, when she may not have gotten your email. Can't you get her home phone number from the resident adviser?

Wait and try to contact her once more before you leave for college. If you get no response, go ahead and bring whatever items YOU need (TV and refrigerator). If it turns out your roommate brings duplicates, at that point you can decide what to do.

I'm just wondering what college you are going to because I don't think they call it Res Life everywhere. They do call it that where I go which is Humboldt State University. Well anyways I was just curious. Have a great day.

Well, If you still dont get in touch with her, then wait till you both move into to decide what yall want...Thats the easiest thing to do...Ive been through that and i think its easier to get everything situated once you are at school

I understand what you are going through because I like to have things planned out as well, but give her some time to respond.....chances are, she's not ignoring you if you guys are going to be room mates...it'll work out! :)

how long ago did you send this e-mail? Don't panic, for all you know she might just be on holiday or something so not able to e-mail back right now.
