What age is the best age to teach reading? Are thier any studies on teaching children to read at age 4? 5? or even 7? Do children that wait to learn to read show an advantage over their early reading peers?

Well, I am an incoming undergraduate college freshman at the University of Michigan. I have heard so much emphasis on the MCAT (please do not talk about this, I know much about it already), but what types of things do you people recommend when it comes to clubs, recommendations, interviews, and other things a college freshman needs to know that probably no one will ever tell him?

I am also puzzled on what to major in. I heard this affects your interview for med school, and I would not like to major in Biology/Chemistry/Physics or whatnot. Which major will help me the most for medical school, and if I take the bare minimum course requirements and I am mediocre in science, how well will I do on the MCAT?

And I heard class selection is important, so what does that entail?

Thanks!!!

I am a 23 year old at home single Mother with a 20 month old son in Bristol. I am currently on Income Support but I really want to study to become a Nurse or a Midwife. I have 8 GCSE passes but not Maths and I have done an Advanced GNVQ but that was in Art. I've contacted 2 colleges in Bristol but neither of them have got back to me as yet. I dont know how to go about it or which course I should go for? and also how much it's going to cost??! Any advice would be very much appreciated, thanks :)

What is with the poor spelling, grammar, style and syntax of the messages conveyed here? Is this a fad that I am unaware of, or are these people just plain stupid?

Noticed a small PG&E pickup truck at lunch today - he parked in the parking lot in a normal space, got a cone out of the back and placed it in front of the truck, then went inside to grab a sandwich. Why bother with the cone? Theft deterrent? Does it prevent tickets or towing (and if so, would this work for me)? Also, by leaving the cone on the ground has the driver ceded ownership? Am I free to take the cone?

My husband always wan't to go to his mothers I mean always we don't have alot of friends and he hates to be at home but we don't anything different at his mothers than we do at home. He doesnt even talk to his mother while we're there he goes around the house looing at books and old things he wants to take home leaving me to talk with his mother who though I love her, talks more than anyone I have ever met and anyone who knows her will say the same. So I have a splitting headache when we leave I don't understand why we always have to be over there especially since he doesnt even speak to his mother. It's just so strange whats the difference between his mothers house and his own he can't stand to be at our home. Why?
