Make sure you have a website and a listing in the telephone directory.

Figure out what makes your program different from others in the area and highlight that on your website & in ads.

See if the local paper would be willing to do a public interest story about your new school (again, emphasize what makes you unique and why parents should want to choose you!).

You can target areas in your town &/or county where parents of young children congregate... YMCAs, parks, libraries, churches, etc. Sometimes those places have community info boards where you can post materials. If there is a large employer nearby, you might also ask their HR dept if they ever pass this type of info on to their employees.

You could host an open house to get community members into your building. You could sponsor family activities in your building (craft or movie nights). Find out if your local community has any special events for young children that you can participate in... for example in my town they have a "Week of the Young Child" celebration with a parade and a family fun fair where community organizations sponsor simple crafts & activities for preschoolers. Preschools & child care centers hand out promotional materials to parents at the activities they sponsor.

Similarly, if there are any clearinghouses for childcare/preschool info in your community, make sure you are in their directory. Start making contacts with individuals around your community and you will likely get people passing your info on to others by word of mouth. IME, once you build a good program parents will refer friends and relatives to you and help secure the future of your program. Good luck!

I would recommend that you do the following:
1. get some neighborhood kids and have them pass out flyers on all the windshields in parking lots (especially at grocery stores where there is a lot of turn over).
2. host a grand opening event where people can come and check it out.
3. give some scholarships to some needy families.
4. go to local elementary schools and ask permission to distribute a flyer advertising your pre-school to all the kids. (Many will have younger siblings.)
5. Have a sign up booth in front of a grocery store and hand out flyers. Make sure to have balloons to give to all the little kids.
Good luck!

1. Avoid fancy advertising. It won't work
2. Start out with a limited number of students and make sure you have good results to show
3. Most importantly, think of the students rather than your profit.
4. Be strict but fair !

Get to public things and introduce yourself and your services! Let them see that you care about the community and then worry about business.
